Wallace and Grommit

Have you ever cared to dwell on how telivision and movies and society in general affect everyone around them? Today I was at school for the first time in two weeks (Spring break), and a friend of mine from China came bouncing up to me in the hallway. The week before Spring break had gotten off he discovered that I have never seen Wallace and Grommit, which was apparently a part of his childhood. Today, as he was smiling ridulously he reached into his black backpack and handed me three episodes of Wallace and Grommit. Well just a moment ago I found out that my little brother has been quoting them for YEARS and I never knew it ("I'm just quackers about cheese"). Seconds later my little sister came into the room and started quoting other dialogue. If characters so simple as these two can influence anyone from 9 year olds to 14 year olds to 18 year olds.... it makes me wonder what your crappier shows do. I know, I sound like the typical parent looking over their kids, but really, think about it. Have you ever been so into a series or a movie that your heart skips a beat when you hear something new about it? I know I have.
