Wow. That came out of the mouth of somebody from the Admissions staff? Well, they were a student at the school once. But it was the best thing about college, in all four years? Uh-huh. That's a laugh.
As a soon to be Freshman, otherwise known as 'Freshie', 'dummy', what have you...I have a lot to learn. College life will not always be easy. When is life ever always easy? It's life. Things happen. You're bound to be blown off course at least once. In college, you have a roommmate and even the best friends won't always get along all the time. Then there's the idea that your parents aren't watching your back 24/7. Freedom, anyone?
That's where I think many people will fall, or begin to slide. Of course, the idea of free condoms will be appealing to some people, but not me. When the guy mentioned that the best thing about his college experience in college were the free condoms, I was like "Yuck."
It's like...I'm sure there's going to be more to college than hooking up. Besides, who wants to start college with a bad track record and be labeled as "that freshman who sleeps around?" Yep, not me. I want to make the most of my college experience, and that means forgoing the free condoms and focusing on meeting new people through other means. Class is a good one. You both sit down at the same table at the library? The perfect opportunity to make small talk. "You're taking Psychology? Awesome! Do you like it?"
Making it on your own is probably a surefire way to leave your mark in college. I make friends easily. I challenge myself. Making it on my own will definitely be challenging. Living with a roommate will be interesting, and won't always be easy. But I know I can get through it. To me, once college starts, I'll just take everyday as it comes.

With this attitude, you will have a fun and memorable freshman year. To top it all off, you won't have to worry about getting an STD. That's always a reassuring thing to know.
