I myself and a Muslim, I am an American Muslim and I came acrossed this article today and was a little stunned. In my opinion, I believe that the Netherlands should not be able to enforce this law of not wearing the hajab, a face covering veil. It is in the interest of Muslim women to wear veils because of religious reasons; not to stir up "security concerns." Why does the hajab, veil, make government officials concerned of security reasons because it is merely just a covering worn by women to make themselves less noticed by men and to keep bad eyes away. I do not believe that government regulations should interfere with religious beliefs....what is your opinion?

I'm not Muslim and I'm not judging the women who wear those veils. But whenever I see those veils, I think of how entire countries refuse to educate their women and allow horrible crimes against them. And if a women doesn't comply with what that country wants, then she might die for it. Most of the time, I understand that it isn't the religion that does that, it is the country. Obviously the Netherlands confused the two, but in the time that it is, I can see why. Personally, I don't understand the point of the veils, so I don't understand the importance of them.
I wear a veil and I am a Muslim woman--it's an important part of me. My mother wears it and she has a master's degree. Mari--learn about your religion. We wear it for modesty and for God. We represent our religion and are proud.
In France they have enforced laws not allowing girls to wear a scarf. But they don't stop the nuns.
