It all boils down to this...

Many would argue that the one of the underlying causes of teenage pregnancy is simply sex education. Now, I'm not talking about the class we all took in high school that required you to carry around a squalling plastic baby that was thought to be representative of an actual newborn. And I'm not refrencing the portion of health class where the teacher showed you how to put a condom on a banana. Specifically, I'm talking about sex education in general; and how some people believe the more educated teens are, the more likely they are to not care. How much sex education was taught in the 60's? None. And what were the teenage pregnancy statistics like then compared to now? A lot less. In a time of 'free love'; sex, drugs, and rock n roll, there were less teenage pregnancies than there are now. Go figure?

My point is this:

Society has got to blame somebody, or something, for the ill effects of society's behavior. Whether it's the mass media and it's coorelation to violence amongst teenagers and children, or teenage pregnancy, or even issues related to corporate cannabilism and it's relation to conflict, it has to be somebody's fault.

Most issues we face in today's society revolve around, or at least refrence, one's upbringing and how they were treated as children.

Considering this blog was created to advocate the importance of parenting classes in today's society, I'm sure you're beginning to see my point. It's so easy to simply ask "Where were the parents at"?, as it should be.

I dont know who is to blame for this. I think the more we know, the more we are to want to do it.
Things like sex have started happening at a youngner and younger age as time goes on...and i've seen this trend with so many things.

I like that question, "Where were the parents at?"
I think it has to do with culture. In American society, parents seem to be more lenient towards their children. Children are more disrespectful. Senior citzens are left alone in homes while their children "forget" to call.
In my country, never is a children left unpunished. Never is a parent disrespected, and it is dishonorable and the lowest of the low, to leave your parents in a home to die alone.
And like you said, we are all looking who to blame.

Where are you from?
