When Jeremiah Wright recently came under fire, Senator Obama quickly denounced him. He jumped on the Romney/Kennedy-esque religion speech as the media continuously played tapes of Wright's fiery rhetoric over and over. Reporters used their adjectives of choice in attempt to distance themselves from Wright in spite of their love for Obama. A frenzy erupted over some minor—and honest—quotes.
Jeremiah Wright never said anything wrong. He said things that were controversial but controversy does not necessitate wrongdoing. What Wright said is what dozens if not hundreds of thousands were thinking, and, quite frankly, the truth.
The Jeremiah Wirght controversy became a matter of free speech. There was no violation of our First Amendment rights but his right to free speech was met with sharp criticism thus invoking fear in the millions of others who often wish to question their government and speak the truth.
The mainstream media wanted nothing to do with it but September 11th was the result of United States foreign policy. The same thing happened with Professor Ward Churchill. His reputation was forever ruined and his tenure revoked. Excuses have been made but it's all about politics. They pointed out that the chickens came home to roost and then let out a new crowd of chickens on them.
Wright's AIDS conspiracy theory is not isolated to just him and while the theory is wild it is not unbelievable. AIDS victims are often black and furthermore, black people often live in poverty which means they won't all get to deal with AIDS the same way that Magic Johnson does.
Actually, the only thing that Jeremiah Wright got wrong was stating that Barack Obama understands what it's like to not be rich, white and privileged. If you ask me, Barack Obama knows what it's like to be all three of those.
THE REVEREND JEREMIAH: WHITE
How come white ministers don't get the same attention? Jew-hater Billy Graham comes to mind. Pat Robertson made comments about September 11th that didn't get half the attention as Wright.
I'm not crying racism because the media is targeting Wright because he is black. I'm screaming racism because the corporate aristocratic media fears the black man who speaks as the black man, who questions his government and abides by his Constitutional rights.
Analyze the content of Reverend Wright's statements and question: where did he go wrong?

I can almost guarantee you that had Reverend Wright's comments been made public during a time when there was no presidential election, no one would really care, which is probably why Billy Graham and Pat Robertson's ideas didn't get as much attention.
