All Aboard the Olympic Chaos?

Today’s news: The Olympic Torch had to be extinguished five times by authorities during chaotic protests in Paris. The Torch Relay in the city was stopped early because of the anti-China protestors. Don’t worry, all you Olympic Flame Fans… the real flame was “kept alive” in a bus while the Torch kept suffering in the screaming crowds.

Meanwhile, protestors in San Francisco are preparing for the Flame’s arrival by climbing the Golden Gate Bridge and hanging banners reading: “One World One Dream. Free Tibet.” Who knows what will happen when (or if) the flame will make it there. I have a feeling the Olympic Parade is going to suffer similar fates in America as it has in Europe.

Are things getting a little out-of-hand? These recent protests are just a day after similar occurrences in London. Will the Olympic Flame even make it around the world? Should it? Is this a year where the “Torch Tour” should be stopped?

What is supposed to be a peaceful joining of international communities is quickly turning into something nasty and violent. I’m curious to hear about what other people think about the Olympic protests or the Games themselves. Are you jumping on the protesting bandwagon? Are you boycotting Olympic sponsors? Will you even watch the Olympics this year? Or do you think all the protests are stupid and should be stopped?

The protests are stupid. Politics should not be brought into sports. Doesn't anyone remember that sports is meant to free a person of the outside happenings. Only thing that should be brought into the ring is your talent and skill, not your politics. People need to get a grip and chill. Let the torch through.
