Those of us, who live in the
United States, live in a country of hypocritical laws. It is these laws, which dictate cases when the government is allowed to take our rights away. Among those laws are the laws against the use of certain drugs. Drugs such as: marijuana, cocaine, and heroin. These three drugs are illegal for no convincing reason. When we are small we are taught that these drugs are bad for our health and that is why they are illegal. Of course this raises the question: “Why are cigarettes, alcohol, and thousands of over the counter drugs available to us when they are also harmful to our health.” If you have ever read the warning labels to over the counter drugs they can cause a whole range of medical problems. Medical problems such as: digestion problems, heart problems, liver problems, and countless other problems. Now I propose that if people have the right to choose whether or not they want to risk there health with these legal drugs, why can they not do so with the illegal drugs? After all a person’s health is there own responsibility.
