Politicians Aren't Leaders

Most people, when asked about the qualities of a politician, would respond that they're leaders. While a particular politician may demonstrate some leadership, that's not their role. No, the politician is actually the greatest example of a follower society has to offer.

It's obscene to see how much emphasis is placed on exercising one's 'right to choose'. This charade perpetuates the false belief that we live in a truly free society. What sort of choice is it to be presented with blue or red? Does that really equate to freedom? No, but it's a useful illusion for those who never stop to take a moment to think. It's also a useful illusion for those that insist on rabid patriotism. Freedom will never come from electing puppets.

So why would a politician not be a leader? They may give inspirational speeches. Surely this constitutes a leader? Not in the least. This is actually more indicative of a popularity whore speaking to the emotions of a population in order to win the 4-year popularity contest. How many politicians have kept their promises once elected? Fewer than have broken them.

This is because politics is a song and dance which vacuous people play to be given power over the unsuspecting masses. They say what's convenient to appeal to the voters who will unthinkingly vote them into power. Then, once power is attained, the incentive for change and progress does an abrupt about-face to pandering to the crowd to remain in favor and possible be re-elected at the next 4-year puppet show.

Real freedom would come from electing to not have a ruler.

Or electing a leader with some real content in what their saying. I have heard that Obama is a very good speaker and that his talks of change. I have not once heard even an example of the change he is going to bring about. I have an co-worker who is convinced he is the anti-christ. Great blog by the way, shame it didn't get more comments. I guess it really says all there is to say.

Time will tell. It'll be interesting to see what the next four years will bring. It'll either get better or worse :-)

Damn! Are those our only two options?

Things could also stay the same. Past that, it's up to you to make up possibilities. :-)
