"'Garden State' my ass. I guess "chemical capitol of the world' didn't have the same zing."-John Munch
I live in a state where multiple buildings have smoke rising from the roof tops. Contrary to it's nickname, there aren't nearly as many gardens or farms as there are power plants. I'm usually not someone to be "green" because I believe that if Global Warming is the way God wants the world to end, fine by me....as long as it happens after I'm dead.
Everyone I know has some type of allergy that lives in Jersey. I get sick enough to know. Everytime the weather changes, I am guaranteed to get sick. For example, I'm sick right now. But I know that once I go out of this state, my allergy's will magically disappear. My sinuses clear right up. It's wonderful...until I cross back into the state border.
Now, I'm going to lecture. As I've stated, I'm not all for being green and spending extra time to do so. Fine, you want me to switch to a different light bulb? Ok. Fine, but I like the ones I have Recycle? Fine. I get that. I just wish people would make smart decisions instead of finding a bunch of smaller ways to fix it. Smoking in your car? Bad. Don't, because we all know where that stub goes. It is discarded out the window and onto the street. It's called littering and anyone who does it should be fined, but no one is ever caught for it. Sometimes, it's just common sense.
Now, I realize that there are many people out there trying to be green. I see it on bumper stickers and on TV. You see the Walmart commercials saying how much one light bulb would save everyone. Or if we all changed something on our faucet. But not enough people will actually do it.
I heard one commercial say something like, "we could power a neighborhood for two days with a windmill." Now, why would you want to switch from electricity to a windmill? Aren't we supposed to be progressing? Isn't that a step back? There are so many other ways to improve the enviroment without having to compromise.
