As some know the MTV VMAs aired live from Las Vegas on Sept. 10, 2007. Of course everyone is talking about Brittney' Spears' opening of the award show. Everyone were very critical of her performance. Some say MTV set her up to perform the worst performance of her career that may have ended her career. Some think MTV made a joke of Spears and was really making fun of her.
Also Kanye West came to the defense of Spears saying that Spears was not ready for that performance and that MTV exploited Spears. West said it was his dream to open up the VMA's with the hit song "Stronger" and that he advised Spears that was not a great move on her part. He was also angry that he was not given the chance to perform on the mainstage and the idea that fellow peer Justin Timberlake was able to perform on the mainstage and in his assigned suite made West very furious.
So would you rather have seen Kanye West than Brittney Spears and do you think Spears was exploited by MTV in anyway.
I do believe that she was exploited by MTV because MTV probably said this would be a comeback performance for you Brittney and she beleived the nonsense. They were trying to trick her all alone. I think the Kanye performance of stronger would have set off an energy for the VMA's

Quite personally, I don't care much. I mean, I didn't even watch the VMAs so maybe I have no business commenting, but why is her career so important to people? Why aren't people paying attention to people in New Orleans and Peru whose LIVES and careers have been destroyed by natural disasters. She is one person, one person who has really made no large contribution to this world socially, yet people care more about if she was exploited on mtv rather than the exploitation of suffering people around the globe everyday. This wasn't aimed at you by the way, I know it might have come across that way.
i completly agree with you with the statement that you made about the people who have lost family members and everything that they owned in NOLA and on the the Mississippi Gulf Coast,i used to live in Pascagoula until last year.i feel for anyone who goes through that..its alot more mportant than worrying about Brittany Spears' career.

Wow, why are you taking it out on me! I'm just blogging about something that others were talking about and i thought i would get some opinions. I don't know why you are taking a stab at me. Just blogging about what was being said in the entertainment world..
Quite personally, I'm tired of people acting like we cant be interested in entertainment. Okay, sure there are more important things in the world that are going on. No one said that we didnt care, or that we dont take interest in those things. Why is it so wrong to care about EVERYTHING that is going on, rather than just the large scale things?
Also, its not a bad thing to care about Britney Spears' performance. If MTV purposefully used me as a joke on their show to get ratings, I would want someone to stand up for me too. It's not so much about her career, it is kind of a question of right and wrong. I'm sure you wouldnt want that to happen to you in front of millions of people. I dont care about Britney or her career...I never really liked her music, but that doesnt mean I cant care about her as a person. And no person, whether they are in Peru, or Africa, or New Orleans deserves to be exploited.
ehh, I think it would have been way less uncomfortable to watch Kanye West. Seriously, I actually felt embarassed for Britney.
I agree, but I wouldn't want Kanye opening either. He's too cocky, and it would have just fueled his ego.

for either. Kanye's song is more populaur so yea but Spears brought in the ratings. The show was one of the worst in history. Awards shows are starting to fall into my tv is boring category.
Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth!~JFK
The old Brittney (pop boogey crap) is gone ... the more sensual, sexy and really stripper Brittney is in ... I think the extra meat looked great, cheeky and hot ... not knowing what she's doing, ... no way ... calculated all the way!
Madonna meets the real deal ... not the Madonna portrayed, I'm a professional entertainer ... its Brittney, I'm really stoned and really playing a stripper ... just like you guys see in all the titty bars.
I think she does a fabulous job of eliciting a reaction ... and really there is not such thing as "bad press" ... consider this a witness to "tryouts" for her next tour ... like she should put out for a damned Music Award show ... who'd she upstage Kanye West ... please no one wanted to see that "George Bush hates black people" trash talking waste of a what? Rapper ... I don't even know ... is he performance art ...
No Brittney was performance art ... I thought it was great and would watch it again.

I disagree with you there because as I was watching the her performance I was embarrassed for her and felt MTV only pulled her in to do the job for ratings and to make fun of her in my opinion. To me she didn't feel ready. Again MTV exploited her in a bad way.
As for Kanye West , he is not trash he has a lot to say and unlike others in the music industry he is not afraid to speak his mine about anything. And what he said about George Bush was what other people were thinking but they feared saying it.
Have you heard any of his cd's to be calling him trash. Like I said before I would have liked to see Kanye West rather than Spears because she was not ready.
but what Kanye said made complete sense, about the Bush comment, have you heard or read some of the comments that come out of the BUsh FAMILY mouth about people who are not white and not like them ( imean rich) and yes, it actually made me LIKE Kanye, he gained my respect for saying something
and if people can say that Don IMUS has the right to say that BS racist remarks about the rutgers women basketball team, than i love how you spin that kanye can't say what he feels is the truth, he had the balls to say what people say behind closed doors
damn right i love his songs and that is my personal freedom but you should just subjectively call an aritist a "waste of a what"
yeah, he is a waste of time to you
but not to the many who listen to his songs and confront and are forced to think about the things he says in them
just like neil young, eminem, aerosmith, bono and dixie chicks etc.. great artists who force the system to keep itself in check and are NOT conventional, yes, i siad it, you can hate him but don;t say that he is waste because that is your opinion not a fact
"Pride is concerned with who is right. Humility is concerned with what is right."
i just would have...he has more meaningful things that i think should get more attention and this is all my own biased opinion so yeah, britney i don't even care anymore except i want her kids to grow up all right sdespite all this bull shit
"Pride is concerned with who is right. Humility is concerned with what is right."
I think Kanye had a point. A lot of people dont listen to what he has to say just because he doesnt do a good job of speaking. He just rants and sounds really immature. But yes, I think the Britney Spears thing was a JOKE. It was horrible. The girl cant even dance anymore. Kanye would've done a better job...but so would have A LOT of other popular artists. I think Chris Brown shoulve opened it. His performance was the best part of the whole night.
Angela A. Washington
Yeah I do agree that Chris Brown's performance was the best. Did you notice that he was lip singing and think he wasn't feeling really well that night and it may have messed up his voice.
yeah. He was definitely lip singing...but Honestly, I think it is physically impossible to do what he did and sing (sing WELL) at the same time. He was all over the place.

I did not watch the VMA's but I love Kanye West. I think he is a much better artist than Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, so there is no question as to who should have performed on the mainstage or better yet the opening act---Kanye without a doubt! He has taken hip-hop and given it a different vibe where your creativity must shine through, where you have to be a first rate version of yourself rather than a duplicate copy of someone else!
