I want to express my opinion on gun control. I have been raised around guns all of my life and will still be interested in guns for the rest of my natural born days. I want to say that i am against gun control. Guns are the quickest and easiest way to provide protection.
I will say that there are accidental discharges and criminals who carry guns for thier main source of violence. I will not deny that they are killing weapons. The problem here is that guns are like any other machine. They are as stupid as the operator. If the operator does not take care of the gun or even consider personal safety around him and others, there will most-likely be an accident. I think that there should be more education on safety of guns than a debate on gun control.
I will say that if gun control is ever put into effect, every law-abiding citizen will turn thier guns in for the sake of their family and themselves. The criminals, however, will not. They are on the run and defy the law all the time, so they will continue to break the law carrying a handgun around without a right-to-carry license even with the gun control law in effect. Statistics show that when Florida passed a law stating that if a person is in a life-threatening situation, such as, someone trying to car-jack a vehicle from an owner, someone pointing a gun at another, or robbing a house, the victim has every right to use any form of self-defense to protect themselves. Upon passing that law, the crime rate dropped dramatically. Why is gun control such an issue if guns actually drop the crime rate?

I agree with your point, but the Florida case isn't universal. My state of Arizona has one of the laxest gun laws in the United States. It isn't surprising to see someone with a gun walking down the street, holstered on the hip. Phoenix has one of the highest crime rates in the country.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with your point from a practical and Constitutional perspective. Just pointing out that you can't take one case study and apply it to all.
I appreciate your comment. I think that if every law abiding citizen would holster thier guns up everything would be better. The point i was making was that there shouldnt be any debates over gun control because it really is a waste of time.
I appreciate the heads up on Arizona.

The Florida law allowing self defense is the Castle Doctrine. Originally, Arizona was not one of the first states to allow right ot carry. And I wouldn't say they have the most lax gun laws. Even in Arizona, you still need a permit. The only two states that do NOT require a permit are Vermont and Alaska. I know for the last several years Vermont has been in the top 5 states with the least gun crimes.
Also, to prove your point about crime. One of the highest, if not the highest, crime city in the country is Washington DC. They also have complete gun bans but still have murders and other violent crimes using a firearms. England and Australia have also had a rise in crime since they passed complete gun control.
The one thing I must debate is that you made a comment that made it sound like the US does not have gun control. We do in fact have gun control, it is just not to the point of a complete gun ban.
Just remember Adolf Hitler said that Nazi Germany was the first country to have complete gun registration. He also was able to kill millions of people with little to no opposition.

Thanks for your comment. It is greatly appreciated. I knew there was some gun control in the US but didnt know to what extent, so that is the reason why i didnt post particularly about it. I think the castle doctrine is the best step towards crime and i think the rest of the states should follow suit. I know there is still a lot of gun opposition, but i think it is because they have had a bad experience or were mislead on guns.
I also want to point out that there are some presidential canidates that are against gun control but are not being objective about it.
To support your point on Hitler, he first disarmed all of his people and soon took advantage of that vulnerability.

On the other hand, if everyone carried guns, it would be so much easier for lethal gunfights to break out.
That is not the case in most areas. You dont ever hear of a law-abiding citizen pulling a gun out for any reason other than self-defense. They respect the safety and security of guns and people around them. IF the criminals are the only ones carrying guns... there would be gunfights all the time to their advantage over unarmed citizens.
