Knowledge is not a rare commodity. By simply searching through this website, one could gain a plethora of knowledge. With this fact aside, I found it simply amazing when a friend of mine had no clue a cyclone had ravaged through Myanmar, killing thousands of lives, and leaving utter chaos in its wake. My friend was completely ignorant. The funny thing is, or rather, the more serious thing is, I know my friend is not unique. I know that just at my school, there are hundreds of other students who are equally as ignorant of this tragedy.
Now, ignorance is not necessarily a bad thing. Ignorance is simply the lack of knowledge, and as the cliche goes, ignorance is bliss. Ignorance does not indicate inferiority, or anything negative. It simply states that one lacks knowledge. The problem lies behind ignorance. Those who are ignorant should strive to fill that void, but as i know all too well, this is not always the case.
Often times, those who are ignorant, do not realize it, and are ignorant of their ignorance. Often times, this ignorance leads to decisions based on false knowledge, and even the "knowledge" they made up themselves. These poorly formulated decisions will not only affect them, but the world as a whole.
The issue at hand reflects not only upon the youth of the nation, but on the nation as a whole. There are too many that choose to not learn, who choose not to better themselves, who choose not to rid themselves of ignorance, and as a result, our future is darkened. Bad decisions will lead to worse consequences, and i believe many of us, ignorant or not, are noticing them.
Now this conclusion may be bleak, but its not a difficult issue to address. All it requires is the understanding that we are ignorant, and we have to do our best to stay well-read and well informed. Although the actions made by an individual, the decision to become well-informed will reflect upon all of us

I have been seeing more and more ignorant people these days. I hate to say that, it is the truth though. Good blog I don't have anything to add lol.

Love comments? I do too!
People grow up. High schoolers are pretty self-absorbed (not all, of course, but many). It's not their fault; their brains are not fully developed. Not an insult...just biology. Sometime around their junior year of college, even the most ignorant start noticing that there's a wider world out there. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
