A lady in Florida found a bag full of money and turned it in.

The question is could you give up 65,000 dollars if it fell off the back of an armor truck and basically into your lap?

This lady in Florida gave up a bag of money when she found it at a dump site near her place of work. I dont think that I could return the money. Even though it was marked cash. Money is too hard to come by now a days especially since i am in college to just let it slip through my fingers. i would get the money put it in the bank and pay off my college education and help my family out. I dont know what that lady was thinking. Being moral is good but being crazy is just damn crazy. i would not be crazy to keep the lost money.

I dont know. I just think that lady is crazy. What are your thoughts? Could you turn in that much money?

What if the money was fake? If the police found the money you kept, you would be in huge trouble. I think I could turn it in, or at least I hope that I would. I would probably keep a few hundreds, but then what if they know how much money is in the bag? It's a hard decision and almost a lose-lose situation.

the back of an armor truck. It was legit.

actually in Islam it would be haraam...oh how to explain it haraam are things that are forbidden http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haraam
So, using money that you have not earned with your own labor and sweat would fall into that category
I would get burdened with guilt and therefore I would turn the money in too--- when i have found money on the floor near someone, i've given it to the person....
but this is what I think I will do...i really want this to be the course of action i'd take :)

I thought about it afterwards and now i think i probably give it in too. It saddens me that my morals come into play and I desperatly need money. *sigh*

Turn it in, plain and simple. It's not yours. I know life can be tough, but money would only be a temporary easement for that. Your morals should play a huge part in making decisions like that, and this woman did the right thing.

Besides, if you put that much money in the bank, it would send a red flag up and surely your deposits would be monitored. You'd be caught eventually, if you didn't turn yourself in from the guilt.

Respectfully,
Adam

I cant be bad for a second. I see people drop money and I chase them down. I knew people would say be moral. could you practice what you preach though?

I found someone else's wallet with $100 once. I turned gave it back to the owner. She was pretty desperate. I don't think I can take someone's money away without knowing them. I might make their life miserable....

There's no way in Hell I would return the money. Honestly, if money just fell into my lap like that it would be a blessing.

Whether or not I turn in found money depends on the situation. If it's a small amount at a very large public gathering, I keep it unless it's in a wallet or some other identifiable information is available. If I find $20 on the ground in this situation, it's mine. I turn found money in if it's a large amount, or any amount in a situation where finding the owner or turning in a wallet, purse, etc. is possible.
