Dont Lie. You know you've gone to at least one party your highschool year and you've gotten completely trashed. It was fun right? Yet, it was illegal! I have had MANY parties through out my high school years. But guess what, its been legal. Know why? because ive been overseas where the drinking age is WAY lower than 21. What I am saying is America needs to lower the drinking age. I think that if you experience the drinking, and fun when you are younger then you wont have a problem with it when you are older. When you are young and still in high school and you begin to have a drinking problem, you have family to fall back on and family that is supporting you. If you begin to become an alcoholic when you are out on your own in the world, you could loose everything and never get it back. This is why I think the drinking age should be lowered just like it is overseas. Another factor, Look at America.... Okay, now take a look at England or Germany. ALOT of countries overseas have WAY less problems than America has. I  believe this is the lower drinking age factor. The sooner you learn the better. I think America would be alot better if they lowered the drinking age, and I also think less people would be alcoholics. They would learn to respect the alcohol. The reason I have written about things like weed and alcohol is because if you take a look around thats what you see alot of at highschool. I dont think these things should be kept in the dark. Someone needs to speak out, change some laws, and make things better. one thing i TRUELY stand my ground on and think should be a law is.. IF YOU ARE 18 AND CAN GO FIGHT IN A WAR... THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DOWN A BEER LEGALLY!

"Take a look at England or Germany. ALOT of countries overseas have WAY less problems than America has."

I remember back in high school German class a foreign exchange student came to talk to our class about the differences between Germany and the US.. and the drinking age was brought up.

The funny thing was that he was shocked to see how interested we were in alcohol. Alcohol is not as big as a problem there because they were brought up looking at alcohol in a completely different perspective than we did. They were taught to drink wine with dinner, and drink socially, leaving them with a much more mature attitude about it. They are not nearly into partying and getting trashed like American teenagers are.

Plus, they are not allowed to get their licenses until they are 18. So, while they go through the whole "drinking is cool" age (between 14-16), by the time they turn 18 it's just not as appealing.

So, maybe if teens were not permitted to drive until they were 18, lowering the legal drinking age may seem okay. But personally, I'd rather just wait until I'm 21. There are already too many alcohol related accidents amoung teens.

The homicide penalties are significantly lower in the UK. Hence they retain some semblance of the body politic in general discourse. Hence people no longer need to drink to have a good time because ones own life is not distorted to the point of discord by things like grades being the meaning of life due to a shortage of educational resources which then have to be doled out to the lowliest individuals as a means of recompense. You know, when polite society makes you crawls-the-walls anal retentive you just wanna trash the place.
