You don't know who you love! Are we that vain?

It is absolutely ridiculous that people in love aren’t allowed to get married. Yes, I said it. They aren’t allowed to get married. Saying that people don’t truly fall in love with the same sex is like saying to a person that what they think is their favorite color isn’t. It’s like telling people that what they enjoy is not actually what they enjoy. It’s absurd. What is it about the sharing of love between the same sexes that scares people so? What is it that makes people make it illegal for them to get married? All people are doing by discriminating against lovers of a same sex is focusing their hatred on a single group of people. Should we call them racists as well or how about sexist? It seems there is a connection. Why is it that everyone hates a specific group of people? It seems there always has to be a group of people considered as outcasts. Why focus all our energy on the gays. Lets just take away women’s voting rights again or the rights of African Americans. Every time there is a group of people outcast by society they end up getting accepted in the end. It’s almost inevitable for gays to be accepted into society so why not just make it all easier and accept them now. Let them have a happy life. Let them help us focus on the more important issues such as starving children, or disease ridden countries. Are we really that vain?

you make a very acceptable argument here and i understand fully what you are saying. the reason so many people are so quick to judge the gays is that they are different from the "normal" people of this country and are therefor stamped as socialy-outcast. though many people will bring reliegion into this battle, i am not. religion is so varried in the world we live in that it is not a realiable source. for the most part; gays deserve rights, but will they get them (in the form of respect and acceptance) probably not.
