I walked into my local McDonald's the other day because my mother and I were hungry. I really don't eat fast food, but I was in the mood. I ordered a Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal and was asked, "Do you want your free Quarter Pounder with that?" I turned around and noticed a sign that said something like "Free Quarter Pounder or Big Mac with purchase of one of the same".
Way to go McDonald's trying to make Americans fatter than they already are. Obesity is one of - if not the biggest - problems in America today, and you are just adding to it. Quarter Pounders have 51% of total sodium needed in a day, so at 2 you'd be over. Calories are about 40% of the daily total. I don't even know a Big Mac's since I've never eaten one.
Fast food is supposed to be more cost efficient and time saving. Well a Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal where I live costs around $5.88. Let's say you get three a week - roughly $18. Let's say you have two more family members that get the same meal - $64. You could buy groceries for cheaper. Sure, it takes a little longer to prepare, but the health benefits outweigh the wait. And today, sometimes it takes over 20 minutes alone to get the fast food as lines are getting longer and longer.
My plea for you, as an American, is to try and cut out fast food from your life as fast as possible. It won't happen overnight of course, but try to cut it out as the cost and health problems will continue to arise.

Yeah... I don't appreciate this whole McDonald is dominanting the world thing... Have you ever seen Supersize me? It's a documentary on a healthy middle-aged guy who undergoes an experiment having to do with eating only McDonalds for a month. It's honestly the most disgusting thing I've ever heard of.
My biology teacher made our class watch that movie.
His liver was almost shutting down and almost had to stop the experiment early (it was highly discouraged to continue). It was worse for him than even the doctors expected. Fast food is hardly recommended once per year in that film... and I highly doubt that will ever happen in America.
I saw that movie in a health class. Scary stuff. It was almost like a drug, causing an addiction and severe health problems for that guy. Then after he stopped eating the fast food, his health started reverting back to normal. Similar to cigarrette addicts.

Oh, that's McDonalds. Trying to attract more customers with their deals; ignoring that what they sell will help slowly kill those people, knowing how many people that they serve food to are heavy users by their own standards.
McDonalds has taken over America. Has anyone else seen Supersize Me? In one part of the movie, an interviewer shows kids a picture of Ronald McDonald and a picture of Jesus, George Washington, and other famous historical figures. The children were more likely to recognize Ronald than all the others. Pretty sad if you ask me.
McDonalds is also appealing to the capitalistic side of America. Americans are all about money, so getting "somethign for nothing" is appealing. A free hamburger--whoohoo!

Oh yeah, I did my final essay in English about fast food. I watched this and read "Fast Food Nation" again. "The Stirring Fry" deleted scene in the movie was the best. Watching the food decompose and such was amazing. And that guy that eats like 10 Big Macs a day? He'll be eating around 20 now...wow.

Hey, you're right. I forgot about Big Mac man. And what's really strange about him is I don't think he was even fat at all. If I remember correctly, he was a very tall guy, but not fat. And he's been eating Big Macs ever since he first tasted one. Sounds like a coccaine addiction.
I saw Fast Food Nation on a bookshelf in a classroom and perused it a bit. I should read it. It might clear up some things.
I didn't know there was any deleted scenes in that movie. I should rent it and watch it again.
