As of today we have all prolly seen about 682 billion advertisements through the internet, television, pop-ups, newspapers and other sources. When I signed on today I was lookin' around the website and now there is a sponsered advertisments about some colleges I think. I always felt this website was somewhere I could go with little or no advertising. . .My question is will this become another advertisment website and does advertising run our world? It does unfortunately because you can't sale things without advertising. If you really think about it I feel its a great question because when you go to sale anything what do you do: advertise, when you purchasing that new television don't you look at all the weekly advertisments before you do anything else. Can we really get away from so much of this activity? Well frankly NO! because people are always buying and saleing stuff. I think does advertising have any societal benefits (not personal) or does is it corrupting us slowly? To me its a combination of both and something you can't put on ur finger on?
Can you pinpoint advertising and its benefits or how it corrupts us (human race) as a nation?
To be fair, the ads are probably what pays for this site and the scholarship.
We are interested in your opinions on this. Yanghais is correct that sponsorships are what pays for the scholarships and expenses of keeping the site running.
Over the coming months we will be experimenting with various forms of advertising, but we do want to be careful not to cross the line into something the detracts from the ProgressiveU experience.
