Definitions of Progress:
Evolutionary progress, the idea that there is a largest-scale trend in evolution of organisms and that the trend is toward improvement.
Scientific progress, the idea that science increases its problem solving ability through the application of some scientific method.
Social progress, process in which societies or individuals become better.
A movement toward a goal or to a further or higher stage: the progress of a student toward a degree.
Developmental activity in science, technology, etc., esp. with reference to the commercial opportunities created thereby or to the promotion of the material well-being of the public through the goods, techniques, or facilities created.
Advancement in general.
Growth or development; continuous improvement: He shows progress in his muscular coordination.
The development of an individual or society in a direction considered more beneficial than and superior to the previous level.
Biology. increasing differentiation and perfection in the course of ontogeny or phylogeny.
Forward or onward movement: the progress of the planets
The forward course of action, events, time, etc.
An official journey or tour, as by a sovereign or dignitary.
To me progress has always meant just advancement in general. I've always thought of progress as moving forward, or achieving a goal, or things like that.
What is progress to you?
Dig the post. The planet gig is not one I always think of, and in that sense I'm happy to have read yer post. But I submit to you that the following is not inherently progressive.
