Spit wads were my least favorite part of the bus ride. These nasty things always seemed to make an appearance on our bus even when they were "banned". The bus driver knew what this kids were doing, but didn't really have the ability to point out which ones were causing all the trouble, so needless to say nothing was done about it.
What's the second best part about the bus ride? Watching all the little kids beat up on each other! (And sometimes older kids that just act like little kids) Not only does this distract the bus driver, sometimes kids actually get hurt!
The third best thing about bus rides is the seasonal weather issues. Snow is a huge problem here, buses are constantly getting stuck. The best part of last year was when my bus tipped over on a hill. No one was hurt, but man it was kind of traumatizing for the little kids (I was not there but i drove past the scene.)
I think there should be more bus safety and regulations. I want to hear about your "favorite" bus memories. I'm sure there are some great ones out there. Has anyone ever got puked on by someone who got car sick? (Something crazy like that??)

Wow, what bus do you take?

Luckily for me, I did not ride on the bus. Maybe they should install some camaras. Some do, that is how they caught that female driver that hit a student.
The back of the bus rocks! It is only place with good circulation. Plus no one is behind you and you have extra leg room. You just got to play some politics to get there.
God, I remember the over crowding back when I was in school. They ran the middle and high school routes together, so we had 7 grade levels on a bus. Talk about the big guys pick'n on the little ones. It was not fun at all! Now let's see ... I have had a kid strip on my bus (I was driving a soccer team back from a game.) I have had a number of kids get sick on my bus. And I have had the bigger kids pick on the younger ones, but for those people, I just pull the bus over , open the door and ask them to leave. It is usually on a busy highway/interstate with wide enough shoulders. Everyone settles down, and the culprits fess up because they don't want to walk five mile home (and no I wouldn't kick them off.)
i had guys use to pretend to strip on my bus. It was on the way back from football games (my best friend and i played on an all boys team) All the guys got the girly lookin guy to lift up his shirt and stick his body to the window whenever we went by some old creepy guy...boy the memories.
It must be fun to threaten though, especially if the road is busy ;)
crowding was a problem on our buses too. The school was trying to save some money by cutting the extra bus so there were at least 3 people per seat with the older kids and 4 with the younger kids (k-12 school)
fun times
Even though I was invited to sit in the back with the older/cooler kids, I decided to sit up from with the elementary kids. It made them happy, and besides, they were better conversationalists than the 'cool ones'.
