Censorship
Censorship is the control of speech and other forms of human expression. The majority of censorship cases are ruled by government bodies. The purpose of censorship is to enhance the society in which the government controls. It is usually related to deeds that take place during public occurrences. It mainly includes the withholding of thoughts by outlawing or controlling expression. Sanitization and whitewashing are both specific forms of censorship used to remove different things that might offend people. Some things ranging from as small as a word to as big as a book, can be censored. There are many different types of censorship in today’s society including: book censorship, internet censorship, censorship of art, censorship of technologies, and many more.
Every single year, books within the United States and all around the world are confronted with censorship. Some of these books are banned, and others are not. The consequence for disregarding these bans, span from practically nothing to serious punishment. Some people also debate school text book censorship because it mainly involves young people. Topics such as the Holocaust, the Nanking Massacre, and the Winter Social Investigation of the Vietnam War are highly contentious. Religious groups have tried to obstruct the study of evolution in schools. The teaching of sexual education is also a highly debated topic in school text book censorship.
The internet has become somewhat of a necessity for people over the past few years, which means there is a lot more controversy on what the it displays. At this moment in time, there is inadequate power use of censorship on the internet. Many people are struggling to get more censorship on the internet, while others like it just the way it is. While there are several pages on the matter, each one of the main sides have a “Ribbon Campaign”.
There are several kinds of information censored. The five key types of censorship are Moral Censorship, Military Censorship, Political Censorship, Religious Censorship, and Corporate Censorship. Moral Censorship is when disputable morality is eliminated because the censoring body does not support the values included in the matter. Military Censorship is the method of sustaining military intelligence and strategy private and away from the rival. Political Censorship happens when governments hide secrets from the citizens. Religious Censorship is the process by which any offensive information to a particular faith is separated. Corporate Censorship is the means by which the editors in corporate media outlets try and stop the publishing of material that depicts their business and business partners in a discouraging way.
“Some thinkers understand censorship to include other attempts to suppress points of view or the exploitation of negative propaganda, media manipulation, spin, disinformation or "free speech zones” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship). These approaches usually work by distributing ideal data. They also function by controlling open discussion to minor debates, and by stopping the other ideas from gaining interested spectators.
Suppression of access to the means of dissemination of ideas can function as a form of censorship. Such suppression has been alleged to arise from the policies of governmental bodies, such as the FCC in the United States of America, the CRTC in Canada, newspapers that refuse to run commentary the publisher disagrees with, lecture halls that refuse to rent themselves out to a particular speaker, and individuals who refuse to finance such a lecture.
“Censorship is not only an important issue, but an interesting one as well"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship).
Censorship is a very debatable topic in today’s society. It is used to control the people who go a little too far to express themselves with words or actions. It is also used for certain things that might offend some people. There are many censorship types. These various types are used all around the world in many different countries and the United States.

At first, I was against censorship. I'm not saying that I'm totally supporting it now. But I can no longer be 100% against it either. If censorship does not exist, pornography would probably be all over the television. Come to think of it, there was a youtube video that was dissing the King of Thailand. I thought it was rude and surprised that youtube didn't take the video out earlier. As a result, youtube is banned in Thailand. Censorship is what keeps the society in order so that people who say stupid things don't pass their stupidity or animosity to other people. It's totally different when hate speech is involved.
