In this last position that I held, almost all of the employees were European. They got around to talking of their backgrounds and came across the fact that I was partial Native American.
I did not know that Europeans had such an issue with Native Americans. They began to degrade gambling and talk about it like all that i involved is the filfth that filters into the ground and poisons our drinking water.
Now, I have HEARD tales of gambling addictions and bankcruptcies and murders, etc, centering around gambling. I've never experienced those things in real life. I've seen them a lot in movies and some TV shows.
I know that whenever I've been in or near a Casino, they've always appeared as upscale clubs. Not the type that attract low life people that was to dance almost neckad with cellulite hanging out of their clothes. Rather, the type that hold pool side modeling contests and celebrities don't have to worry about renting VIP rooms as they trampse unnoticed around the Casino floor or in the dance room, etc.
I've never felt a reason to fear near a casino. I've never even seen one located in a bad part of town, I've always seen Casino's located in center's of wealth.
Then there are the dog race, the horse races, hi-li, etc. People who attend those events usually are known icons of wealth and prosperity and usually have austere popularity rather than thuggish tales thrown around about them.
When she started talking about going homeless and running into the debt, etc, because of gambling I hold to hold my breath not to try and get a word in edgewise. When I lived the the ghetto apartments, everyone there that had no money usually spent it all on ciggarettes and alchohol while trying to supply to the entire neighborhood, worried about making friends. When Ben introduced gambling into the social mix, one group moved away because they could no longer figure out how to swindle things out of the rest of the tenants, and other's began to obtain better paying jobs. The marijuana smoking outside began to subside and it appeared that the tenants became friendlier all around.
It was like these people were beginning to experience the feeling of obtaining money in a way other than being pushed around and hopping from job to job. They began to clean up their acts, more interested in obtaining descent positions.
Almost as though the gambling experienced jogged their neurons on the path of most college students when they begin to realize that college is their path in life.
So, seriously, I'm trying to figure out still why gambling has such a bad rap. For me, if one is going to gamble then shouldn't it be his/her own discretion as to what point they start or stop? I've never met a true gambling addict, in the sense of bankruptcy, etc. I've always just met people who spend their recreational money to gamble.
So it brings me to the question; since Germany and the UK and the Ukraine just recently, in the early 2000's (2003, 2004) started opening up casino's and racinos, and yet they allow gambling as a legal practice whereas the US only allows it legal to the tribes, is it possible that the gambling hype could be a political theme? For example, in the US it's saying, sure, stay here, immigrate, build up business as you wish, but you won't get to OWN the place, here, its like this Casino, we gamble here, not you. You just spend your rmoney on us.
Just like the internet gambling where it was legal in Europe but not here. Could that be another Tea Tax scheme? Is that the honesty of why it's important rather than the tale about poor economies and rift rat, etc???

Gambling is not just legal when run by Natives. Also, please run spell check next time. Some of your entry was difficult to read due to spelling and punctuation errors.

You are correct. Gambling is also legal when using it for charities. My Aunt, who has no native blood in her what-so-ever, used to compile mini casino's for some of the organizations that she was a member of. She's an artist, so mainly it was the one for the National Federation of the Death and Blind.
LOL! That still makes it political. I'm surprised Europe is finally catching on :).

PS: When I write those long articles I normally don't have time for spell check. I guess in the future I should first write in word, have word check it for me (most of the spelling corrections are automatic in word now), then save it and post it. That way I can use viewer comments to update the documents and try to get them published when I'm through. YOUR BRILLIANT!!!
