God why does selecting a college have to be so difficult?

I am a high school junior who is fairly responsible. Money does not matter, not that I have a alot because I do not, its just that I want the most out of my experience. It is after all the last time I'll be able to party and hangout without a real job and what not. This is my last chance to get it all out of my system.

Now do not think I want to go to a party school by any means. I just want to go to a school where I can have a good time. I like to party yes but not to the point where I can not remember who or where I am. Also I have a thing for warm places preferably but I am from Pittsburgh, Pa, so I can deal with all four seasons.

I have already looked at Pitt, Robert Morris, Penn State, Clarion, Slippery Rock, New York University, and Ohio State. I can see myself doing well at all these. I am looking to major in Social Studies Education. I have a current GPA of 3.6 and SAT of 1250. I take mostly A.P. courses and I am well liked at my school. I am very personall and can talk to anyone. I also have strong ties to people, but and always have secreats confided with me. Most people know I am smart but also see my nice side as well. I also love watching sports so a sports program is a must. Any suggestions out there?

I'm a high school senior, and applied to Pitt and NYU.
All of your schools are awesome, but I can't say that I agree with your reasoning.

You shouldn't be paying to party.

If you want to do that, do it somewhere else. You listed some difficult and expensive schools, and they're places that most people go to for an education, not a good time.

Rethink your priorities.

I like the idea of going to expensive schools with good education but my main focus is my education, but I need to also go somewhere that I am not expected to have no life while carrying a 4.0. I would like to ask what you see in NYU and if you made any visits there because I am not able to go there at the moment but have visited Pitt and loved it. Is it similiar to Pitt and what are the differences.

I'm a senior also and I think that your college decision should firstly be made on the quality of your education. But you need to go to a place where you feel at home. Try visiting the campuses and sitting in on some classes. I've found that the best way is to spend the night with one of the college kids and see what life is actually like. I think you are going to party no matter where you are but education and a "home-like" feel are most important

thanks for the idea i have done for some of them, but feel at home everywhere I go because it is so easy for me to get along with people. That is why its been so hard. I can see myself basically anywhere and enjoying myself.

I recommend looking at princetonreview.com. They have some interesting lists that tell you a lot about the colleges.

I'm a senior right now and I know how hard it is to try the right college. I saw that you can feel at home anywhere because you get along with people so well, so thats really good. I would suggest visting the colleges your interested in and see what activites they have to offer, from the various sports and clubs. See which college is a better fit for you. Also you can make a pro and con list about the colleges you're looking at to help narrow down which one is right for you, I personally did this and it helped me alot.

I personally fell in love with University of Arkansas, and that's where I will be going next year. Some other schools you might look at (maybe not the best overall) Missouri University (has a little of everything you're looking for), Missouri State Universiy (good education program). These are basicly all I know about!

it is hard, but my best advice is to do it as soon as possible. if you can make your decision BEFORE christmas break of your senior year you will be better off....you will be ahead of the game especially if you are applying for scholarships. if you know what area you want to study, it makes the decision that much easier. i would also agree that college is not the place to plan to party...by all means have fun but the nice thing about college is that you can find interests other than booze....i know that seems like the most important thing right now but i promise you it gets old and it doesn't end at adulthood. good luck! good decisions!
