I just thinking about my high School Mascot and what it meant to me throughout my High School years. You see my team Mascot was the Tiger's which lead to many really cool things. Our song we always played before entering was "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor which by the way is one of the coolest songs ever. Talk about getting you pumped up! On the side lines we always had someone dressed in a big Tiger outfit looking really cool. And man the signs that the cheerleaders could come up with. I mean what kind of chance does a ram have against a Tiger? We always had a big Tiger head painted on the fifty yard line which was pretty intimidating to the other team. That Tiger mascot really meant allot in my life!
Tell me about your team mascot and what it meant to you and your friends throughout your High School years. If you are still in School maybe this will help you to brain storm for the good times such as Pep Rallies and other school functions. There are so many different Mascots out there. Some are controversial such as my Dad's which was the Brave's. His school actually has a totem pole in front of the school. Rival teams have actually cut the totem pole down several times throughout the years. How funny is that?
Tell everyone what your School Mascot is or was and if you have any funny stories please share them with us.
What was or is your Schools Mascot?

Because as a Lutheran school, we were "setting the pace for humanity." Arrogant.

My school once played a team whose mascot was the Antlers.
My school Mascot was the Royal. We were the Ramstein Royals.
I'm not sure what a Royal is, but it was in the shape of a lion. Heidelburg mascot was a lion though, so we couldn't have that one...
My next mascot--sundevils. Go Sparky! :-)
true story:
I used to work at the mail center on campus. parent calls up irate because we dared to assign her precious daughter to mailbox 666
ma'am, you do realize the mascot at your daughter's new school is a red devil holding a pitchfork, right??

"...There is a crushing guilt that comes with being a Catholic. Whether things are good or bad or you're simply... eating tacos in the park, there is always the crushing guilt."
-30 Rock-
we are the vikings. (the mighty mighty vikings!)
ahhh, i'm not exactly "miss school spirit," haha.
but yes, we're the vikings because vikings are ruthless, strong, etc etc.
they don't let up,
according to our cc coach.
We were the Hornets although I think we tried to change it in middle school. I have to say that I had almost forgotten we had a mascot because nobody really cared about it. I think the most we had was pics of a hornet on some school apparel
College its the Demon Deacons, which is definitely a different experience. I have one friend who is a mascot, and I know taht several people have been trying to resurrect an old tradition by sneaking plungers into games
Unfortunately we don't have any hard-core rivals. We mainly consider Duke and North Carolina our rivals but they don't consider us rivals. I'm hoping that we start a rivalry with Vanderbilt since we're such similar schools and we already play each other each year in most sports
I think its nice to have a mascot who is so unique and unrecognizable, although the design is a little ugly.
I'm currently a junior in high school and our mascot is the Ironman. It is basically a knight. Because we are the ironmen we usually use "iron man" by ozzy osborne in many of our pep rallies. and this year our slogan was "iron sharpens iron."
Ok, Ok so our "official" mascot was the Patriot but we weren't cool enough to have a costume for someone on the sidelines and in fact we had nothing on any jersey, or anywhere in our building. So that one didn't mean much. But my senior year, one of my really good friends worked at Blimpie's (you know, kind of like Subway) and had to advertise on the street dancing in a pickle costume. He became our unofficial mascot and would dance and do flips during the half time show at the basketball games. He really got us revved up far more than the "Pep" squad and it added to my senior classes over abundance of uniqueness.
And the coolest mascot ever, was when I attended Oklahoma State. Pistol Pete. He is the only mascot in the United States that is actually a real person. AND! He carries a gun. Plus we had Bullet, our horse mascot that ran up and down the football field during half time. I mean really, nothing can get you more riled up than a gun-wielding cowboy that shoots his pistol and dances to "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by the darkness.
I hope my post is bringing back great memories for everyone. It is funny as the years go by how its the little things in life that bring out the smiles!
