Advancing Education: Highering standards and rules

As you may know high schools in Arizona and possibly nationwide have passed the bill that requires that all high schoolers must take the Aims test for not only math, writing, and reading, but students must also take the aims test for science! I am not sure if the students who are going to take the science portion of the aims test have to actually pass the test. If it is required that students must pass the science portion of the test to graduate then I think that the graduation rate is going to decrease. Now, there has also been a bill that has been suggested to be passed and it is putting a history portion added to the Aims test. If the history portion is even added to the Aims test, sure some students will pass it, but what about the students who can barely handle the math portion of the aims or the new addition of science? Schools are raising the bar too high for students and should inform students of the new additions to help them set realistic goals for each individual student and help them practice to become proficent at subjects pertaining to the Aims test. Besides the Aims test, there has been a requirement in Arizona that students need to take a minimum of six classes when they are a senior. I believe that schools should have informed their students ahead of time to prepare their students for change. Not only that, but I hear rumors that there is a purposal for uniforms in high school. What happened to freedom of expression? Students that are not attending private schools or grade school should not have to wear uniforms. The new generation should have a say in what will impact their lives.

You'll be required to take science, math, and history in college, so how are these components being added a disadvantage to anyone? If students are required to pass them to graduate, they will at least have the basic knowledge needed for simple careers and for college courses.
