My nextdoor neighbor died

I came home from volunteering this morning only to find out our nextdoor neighbor had died in a car crash coming home from work. It completely unhinged me. I didn't know him very well, but I knew his son a lot more seeing as he played with my brothers on a regular basis.
Should life get taken away so fast like that? He left his wife, 3 year old son and 10 year old son depressed beyond belief and unsure of what to do now. It really made look at what can so easily happen: death. It's something so forbidding, unplesant, and mysterious, people for as long as we've known have been trying to explain it and beyond.
It's hardly ever predictable. Most of the time it comes like an accidental trip to the face.
I feel infinitely sorry for my neighbors. Everyone in my family does. I go over and over in my head what would happen if something of that caliber happened to my mom or dad. I think this will prompt me to hug my parents every time I go drive somewhere.
Whether there's an afterlife or not, I hope my neighbor knows we'll do anything for his family and he's just made me forever grateful I have everyone I have.

Someone I knew died last week, and even though she had been ill for a long time and was quite old, it was shocking. It always seems like there will be more time, another day, another chance to simply be with that person. You never imagine that at any moment they could be gone.

Makes me appreciate the time I have with my family and friends. We should all let death be a reminder to not sweat the small stuff, and make a difference while we can.

It is a devastation how drivers can create tornados. It's not just themselves they put in danger, but everyone else around them.
