everyone knows about racism. but people only think of it as being against blacks, or asians, or indians. but, you know what, due to all of the special attention given to these "minority" goups, whites are being singled out. many scholarships are offered to all non-white students, or what about these all black tv shows and radio stations? i have nothing against it, but honestly, if they get that becase there ancestors were enslaved 200 YEARS AGO then i want special treatment because white people were enslaved too. a few days ago, after my orthodontist appointment, i was next in line at mcdonald's. my mouth hurt, and i wanted some cold ice cream. as i was walking up to the cash register, a black woman and her son came, cut me off, and ordered their food. they don't have th right to cut people. and this is not te first time this has happend to me. I have nothing against blacks or other minority groups, but their skin color doesn't make them better than us, as some of them like to think. no, skin color shouldn't matter. we are all equal. so why do they get special treatment because of the color of heir skin? down in the Southern U.S. somewheres, at a high school, every minority group had a club\ where only members of their minority group were allowed in. feeling left out, the white kids formed a group for kids of european descent. they were punished, and forced to abandon and abolish their club for celebrating their heritage,hile every minority group got to keep their cub. I am sorry, but that is just not fair. now,as far as calling people african american, or native american or whatever, that is just bull! i am sorry, but just becuase white people did something to your great great great granddad does not mean you should get special treatment. i'm sure yo granddad did his share of nasty suff to the whites. and you know what else? how many blacks can prove that they are descended form slaves? and blacks were enslaving each other in africa long before whites got there. people should only be called african american when they are dual citizena with africa. other wise, you had better call me a europen american. honmestly. we are all american. we are all equal under our constitution. so, why do we segregate whites? why can't we all just be americans? why?

racism does exist, in more form than one. especially now. not only are people racist towards whites more and more, in subtle ways, but there are still stupid people who are racist based onskin color, religion, and ethnic background. i am mormon, and have dealt with some interesting comments because of it. so, it does exist. you are right. i wish it didn't, and that everyone could be truly equal. but, that would require a perfect world, and nothing is perfect. but we can try.

how can i be "letting it" or "teaching it" when i am so obviously against it? i mean, come on think about it. I obviously don't like it, and i am also obviously fed up with it. so, how am i contributing to it? i am saying that we have gotten to the point where racism, or segregation, is not as obvious, and rarely targeted toward minority groups with all th special attention that they get! and, if you think about it, if they get special treatnebt that "european american's" don't that is a form of segregation, against the group you would most likely it expect it not to happen to! i think we are all equally to blame for racism. We give attention to minorities because we do not want them to be angry with us. Yet we look down upon them because they are different.
Racism is a hard topic to define: Racism is against everyone, blacks, whites, filipinos, hispanics--everyone. We are all at fault. Honestly, I don't think anyone can say, very truthfully, without a DOUBT, that they are not racist. Because at some point in their life they have had thoughts directly connected to the color of a person.
Racism is obvious--some are blind to it, some have turned a blind eye, some openly display it.
I don't mean to be disrespectful, perhaps you can explain it to me: you constantly say that we are all created equal..and skin color doesn't matter and there should be no special treatments. But are you not being prejudiced just by saying that because you believe that you are being injusticed by the minorities?

Racism still exists, but now racism has been systematically implemented. it is subtle.
that is why we need special program for minorities who have been HISTORICALLY
underrepresented.
If you look at public colleges across america, on average it is about 75% caucasian.
the other 25% are minority citezens and foreign exchange students. African americans weren't even allowed to attend public universities until the late 50's-early 60's.
if you look at the job market, most notably the government and proffessionals it is an overwealming majority caucasian. That is not to say that the ones who are there dont deserve it, but clearly the system dating back to when Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence was designed for Europeans, by Europeans.
P.S. the woman who cut you off in the line was a Bitch, because thats her character not because she was black. remember that the next time and you will realize that people of all races can be assholes.

This is surely true, but to set up a global scientific search in order to find just any key factor which could prove black people are part of a so called inferior ethnic origin is not mentioned in school, is it? Do believe me when I say they have done a good job, their very best trying to put black people in the same category as animals.
Yet they failed, but created a tag which comes along with that crappy educational crap many still swallow without questioning.
To understand what this implies on a social level, one can try to look at it this from another perspective. If person x get’s arrested upon suspicion of abusing a child, regardless if person x get’s released the following day (not guilty after questioning).
He will have to move away and start his life over again in a new environment in order to lose the tag.
Black individuals cannot lose the tag which randomly get’s to be pushed right in their faces whenever it pleases so called Mr. or Mss. pride to vent frustration. A black individual knows where to buy groceries, also knows the emotional content of what it feels like to wonder around “moods” which can them.
The ones which mirror themselves go exit highway, to jail!

Caucasians are still the majority. They are the largest racial group. If you combine all the people of color, they may outnumber whites, but none of the individual groups taken individually comes close to the number of whites. And really, does it have to be us v. them?

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Whites not Hispanic origin made up 69.4% of the population in the 2000 census. The projected number for 2010 is 65%. By 2050, the number is projected to be 50.1%. In other words, I was wrong when I said that we may be outnumbered if all people of color are counted together. We remain, and will remain for several more decades, the majority. Straight up.

Wow. Do you seriously believe that scholarships are offered only because of slavery that ended in 1865? Aren't you ignoring the Jim Crow laws that existed until the late 60's and the racist districting policies that lasted until the early 80's that forced minorities into inferior schools?
Believe it or not, poor almost always begets poor. That means that if you are born to a poor family, there's a great chance that you'll continue to poor. That's because a poor child lacks the resources to compete with wealthier children. They also probably attend inferior schools. Just a few years ago, for instance, a valedictorian from New Orleans couldn't even pass the high school exit exam with six tries.
Even middle class families have more options for their children because they can move to better school districts. Poor people can't move because only the ghettos and slums offer the kinds of rents poor people can afford.
Minorities were forced into these ghettos by white societies so they continue to be poor today. Just how are these people supposed to be better if no one targets their communities for academic help?
I'm writing my Master's thesis on this. It is incredible how the lines drawn decades ago still exist, and how difficult it is to gain the cultural capital whites have as a result of that demarcation. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said.

thanks. but, this wasn't entirely my, or the people commenting's, thinking. it was a class discussion, here in my high school spanish class, in montana. some of the ideas came from people who have commented. some from my parents. and soem from my classmates. I guess the reason we talked aboutit is because in montana,there are few minority groups, so we tend to see things differently, and no one really understand what it is we are saying.

So, saying that a person's life or money will affect that is crap! there is something called a FAFSA which is governmentalfinancial aid, andpoor people ca get it. That's not a real law, it's just symbolic. You don't have take those racist comments, but neither do we. It is not our fault that some white people choose to be silent when someone says something racist. Freedom of speech means that you can't be prosecuted under the law for saying something. It does not mean that you can say whatever you want and no one will get mad at you.
