Ode to the Jefferson Memorial

     This was inspired by a trip to the United State's capital. Everyone should travel to Washington D.C. Students, if you have a chance, go to D.C. with the Close Up Foundation. I had tons of fun, and toured the memorials. Washington D.C. is filled with the past, present, and future. The past, for me, are the many beautiful and nostalgic memorials. The present, were the people, restaurants, malls.... And the future, was, for me, the congress and senate working for the best of the United States several blocks away. The experience was amazing, and I encourage every one to visit.

     The Jefferson Memorial

     The sun sets down

     with gilmmering shades of gold and pink

     that are strewn across the sky;

     looking down upon bountiful cherry blossom trees

     that stand outstretched to the sun.

     The water was spread across the land

     like a giant mirror-- reflecting everything in sight

     so that we might

     appreciate what we have today

     and look at it in a very different way.

     I see the many domes of Washington D.C.

     spread across many memorials that live up to what they are said to be.

     While we sit on cool, white-steps,

     we look around and feel the vast display of generations

     that has experiences this very moment.

     We witness the power of our forefathers' gazes over the majestic land we call our home.

     America.
