Unbelievable
I was walking to class last friday right, and then i turned to see that there was a kid walking next to me. Nothing much since I don't know him but i have seen him. He sits at the same table as I do for 6th period. So as I was walking I smelled something. What could that be? Uh huh nothing more but marijuana. Why do people as young as me choose to do something like that? I have never tried and I have never been interested in trying anything like that. I know people who do smoke weed. I even dated a person who smoked weed HA never heard from him again....and I wonder why? Its no surprise he had to go to continuation school for the ridiculous things he did or the ridiculous thing he smoked. I even had a former friend who sold it. Putting little 14, 15, 16 year olds to do your work doesn't sound very good. I mean getting caught as an adult is one thing but getting caught as a minor, now that is a whole new story. Who even began making weed the new thing. In high school it seems to be anywhere you turn. I wonder how long will this go on. I know one thing though, that I will keep my neices and nephews away from this.

Calm down like the weed makes us. JOKING. Be angry about it 'cause people as young as 14 years old screw their lives up from the get go. It's more sickening than it is saddening.
Weed is awful for you and slows brain development. Kids shouldn't be exposed to that sort of thing.

It's weird to see someone so surprised to find out a lot of kids smoke weed. Weed is gift from the Earth that we should use wisely.
it's okay. I have a black gay friend.
Kudos on this blog and providing a firsthand account of some of the devastating effects of the stuff. (EDIT: This got inadvertently snipped from my original post) It's really unbelievable to see the young ages a good percentage of students are starting at. I have an acquaintance who's used since fifth grade. And it could be worse. Kids our age could be drinking alcohol. OH WAIT-
Seriously though, while marijuana use is not a habit I'd advocate, the dangers associated with alcohol consumption and even cigarette smoking rank much higher. Even were they not simply more socially acceptable, leading to more widespread use, if you look at the ratios between marijuana use and fatal accidents versus those with alcohol, alcohol's stats are actually much higher. And for the moment, yes, I am talking out of my rear because I don't have the studies at hand that my friend used to convince me, and I'm not 100% sure I can find them.
I don't judge the character of anyone who uses or abuses any substance, because we all have our reasons for doing some strange things. But marijuana, besides its reputation as a gateway drug, is one of the tamer substances a person could damage his or her life with. The only reason it's illegal in my mind is that the government doesn't realize what a killing it could make off the stuff, just like tobacco, and how much its illegality is like Prohibition in the early 20th century.
...I think I'll gather my stats and do a blog about this.
2nd EDIT: I'm not directly opposed to your message at all. I realized this post kind of implied that. I totally agree- it's disgusting and horrible to see weed consume lives. I'm just a proponent of legalization because one way or another, people will use it and legalizing it means it can be subject to government regulations. Sorry if it seemed like I was saying "duuuude, you gotta try this stuff, man!"
I know lots of people who smoke weed in moderation and are straight-a students at the university level.
I don't think weed has anything to do with bad grades or failure in life.
That's not to say that weed doesn't attract failures...

I agree. I know a lot of "productive potheads", and as a college instructor I hear a lot of A-students advocating legalization. I'm not sure whether or not they actually smoke the stuff, but it wouldn't surprise me. To me, if weed is illegal, then fried food and butter should be, too.
Cheers

Check it out...it's a work in progress.
"I wonder how long will this go on."
Since it started thousands of years ago...don't hold your breath, until it goes away.
A Fact is Always Better Than an Ideal.
I wish people didn't judge something they've never tried! I'm sick of all the opinionated views of marijuana from people who have never even tried it.
