As stated in a previous post, I am a PETA member. I also find fault in their campaigns, and the way they deliver their message. But upon looking on www.PETA.com, I was actually pleasantly surprised. One of their more recent campaigns is much different from the other ones, but in a very good way.
There is a kosher slaughterhouse that apparently has not been following the Jewish laws regarding kosher food. The law is that there must be one quick, decisive cut across the throat to ensure the animal passes out in a few seconds. This can be hard to do, but kosher slaughter houses specialize in this kind of slaughter. This house has not been doing this, and deceiving those who live kosher. It has employees that abuse the animals and have not been slaughtering them correctly. I love how the page on the story is not demanding that people stop eating meat (though I am a vegetarian), and not demeaning those who do. They are simply asking for support in asking that live-feed cameras be installed into the slaughterhouse in order to ensure that the employees are fallowing the correct procedures. My heart leapt at this. Finally, a PETA that is taking baby steps, a PETA that recognizes that people will eat meat, even if they know where it came from. They are not asking at all that people stop eating meat just that they help a little with improving the way the animals are cared for. This is a step in the right direction.
If you dont believe me, see for yourself at http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/agriprocessors_investigation_2008 .
Ahh, Much better, PETA

I am glad they are at least doing that. I eat meat and I can't help it. I believe in humane treatment of animals yet I guess I contradict myself because I like meat. At least they are doing something about it though. I am curious... I have never asked a vegetarian this, but do vegetarian's eat seafood? Some people do not consider that meat. I was just curious.
I guess I am strange, but when we were in Florida they had cooked dolphin and that broke my heart. I did not agree with eating that at all. I know that sounds strange, but I found it wrong. There are a few others I do not agree with eating either though like deer.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I am voting for Lewis Black.

Some vegitarians do eat fish and seafood. I don't anymore, but some vegitarians don't consider it meat.
Faith is like a glass of water. When you're young, the glass is small, and it's easy to fill up. But the older you get, the bigger the glass gets, and the same amount of liquid doesn't fill it anymore. Periodically, the glass has to be refilled.

When most people here dolphin they think of the cute and very intelligent mamnal called a "Bottle-nosed Dolphin" made popular by the TV series and later movie called "Flipper". It would indeed be sad t eat one of these although I would if I was passingly hungry.
But there is another kind of fish called a dolphin and it is a sport fish (not a mammal) and very good eating. It has dense white meat somewhat similar to a swordfish. It is a strange looking thing with a peculiar hatchet shaped head and large dorsal fin, and brilliant colors in the water which fade not long after it is removed from the water. They are fairly common wall mounts. This fish is called a "Dolphin" when it is caught in the waters near Florida. In Mexico they call the same fish a "Dorado". And in Hawaii the same fish is called a "Mahi Mahi". Mahi Mahi is probably the name that is most familiar to most Americans and it is common in seafood and other upscale restauraunts across the country.
They are very unusual looking fish, I think.
