Westboro Baptist Church

Well I was watching youtube videos while talking to my boyfriend and I came across a semi interesting group. I say semi interesting because they were only interesting to me because of the stupid things they say and do. This group is anti- glbt, anti-american, and anti-jewish to name the ones I will talk about. They also protest outside of soldiers' funerals and military bases. This group is the Westboro Baptist Church.

My boyfriend is Jewish. So that one kinda irks me. My great grandfather fought in WWII. He saw things I never asked him to talk about because I read about the things that happened. I don't know how someone could hate someone else just because of their religion or beliefs. Especially if the person hating somene believes in God. I personally am not a religious person. Never have been and never will be. But I will never judge someone just because of their religious or other beliefs. Noah, by boyfriend, was scared to tell me he is Jewish at first because he was scared I wouldn't like him after knowing that. I told him that his religious beliefs might be different than mine but I still love him. I think that things people do in the name of religion are stupid. Sure attack these people and God will reward you...yeah and I'm the virgin Queen of England. Nope, sorry, don't beileve a word of it. Yes, I'm sure there are many different interpretations of the Bible and what it means, but I'm also sure that it doesn't say to kill for your God. I'm pretty sure one of the 10 Commandments says something along the lines of don't kill. The WBC has protested in front of the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. That is wrong. They shouldn't protest in front of a Holocaust Museum, it is really disrespectful. Leading me to the protesting of the soldiers.

The U.S. Armed Forces fight for the WBC's freedoms and to thank the soldiers the WBC protests outside of military bases and soliers' funerals. That is one of the most disrespectful things someone can do. I understand not liking some of the things that go on in the military but don't protest at a funeral. Protesting outside of a military base is disrespectful but I would rather see them protest there than see them protesting at funerals. I don't support the war in Iraq and I never have. However, I do fully support our troops. They are just doing their job just like everyone else. I have friends and family in the military and I worry about them on a daily basis and I don't appreciate the WBC's actions. If you want to complain to someone stand outside of the White House and yell all you want to there. That's where they should be. He's the one who puts the troops there. The troops didn't just wake up one morning and say, "Hmmmm...I'm bored. Let's all go out to the desert where it's exeremely hot and let's all wear protective gear to make it just a litte hotter." Sorry, doesn't work like that.

I also have a few gay, lesbian and bi friends and a family member. I think that if a man wants to marry a man go ahead. Have a blast. If a woman wants to marry a woman go ahead. As long as you don't hit on me I don't care who you marry or what you do with who. It doesn't bother me a bit.

Only thing I will say about the anti-american thing is this....IF YOU DON'T LIKE AMERICA GET THE HELL OUT!!

I had the sudden urge to find one of their protests close to me and go up to them, give them a nice wonderful list of my "sins" and then tell them that I'm completely proud of everything I've done. I don't regret anything and I'm sure that I will end up in Hell for some of the things I've done. Oh well. I'm pretty sure they would love the fact that I'm going to marry a Jew.
