Top 10 Movies with the Greatest Re-Watch Ability. 10-6
I have compiled a list of 10 movies with the greatest re-watch ability. These are the movies that when you are flicking through the dial catch your eye and answer that age old question of “Is there anything on?” Some are extraordinary films that are in many lists, others simply satisfy a certain craving we all share. One feature all of these films share is the amount of notable quotes that pepper our vocabularies. Without further ado I give movies 10-6.
10. Batman. (1989)
Let us all forget about the Adam West and Burt Ward travesty and love this picture. I have enjoyed this film literally all my life. I think I still have our homemade VHS copy. As a young boy I would sit and watch Batman beat the snot at goons and eventually defeat the evil Joker. As I grew older I have appreciated Jack Nicholson’s role as the Joker. Which in reality is not really the Joker but instead, Jack Nicholson with Joker makeup which is equally awesome.
The movie is not that serious and is really just fun to watch. Sure it doesn’t follow any Batman story lines from the comics and the Joker dies instead of going to Arkham, but who cares? Gotham is cold and dark. The characters are colorful and over the top.
Notable Quotes: “He stole my balloons!”
“Get those wonderful toys”
“Ever dance with the devil in the pale moon light?”
“Awww, what a day”
and how can anyone forget “Never rub another man’s rhubarb”
9. The Matrix (1999).
One of the greatest science fiction movies ever made is also great to watch over and over again. Honestly, you have to see this movie more than once to get all that is in it. The Matrix is packed with elements from “Alice in Wonderland”, the men in black, the singularity, kung-fu, and computer culture.
Not to mention how the fights revolutionized action movies and video games. Bullet time! Then there is a high "what the fuck?" factor that adds to the re-watch ability.
Notable Quotes: “I know kung-fu”
“Stop trying to hit me and hit”
“There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path”
“Mr. Anderson”
8. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
Drugs, Drugs, and nostalgia about a fading generation, make this movie awesome. The two main characters are as rich and interesting as they come. Terry Gilliam fills the screen with an incredible amount of detail. Just try and count the American flags. A window into a world that may not even exist anymore or maybe it never did in the first place. Hilarious, dramatic, intriguing.
Notable Quotes: “This is bat country!”
“Who said anything about slicing you up? I just wanted to carve a ‘Z’ into your forehead.”
“This is what the drug culture would be doing on Saturday nights if the Germans had one the war”
“This is the American Dream in action”
“Want a beer? How about some ether?”
7. Dumb and Dumber (1994)
Two idiot friends travel across country to return a woman’s brief case that contains her husband’s ransom money.
Unlike today’s stupid comedies, that are completely idiotic and try so hard to make something funny, Dumb and Dumber is witty and clever. Jim Carey plays a guy named Lloyd Christmas. His last name is Christmas. Christmas! Jeff Daniels is Harry Dunn. 'Nuff said. They display a sort of childish innocent that adds to their like ability unlike the characters of today's stupid comedies who over indulge in sex and drugs.
Notable Quotes: “Peedee didn’t have a head!”
“It’ okay! I’m a limo driver!”
“Do you want to hear the most annoying sound in the world?”
“Mock, yeah! In, yeah!”
6. Jaws (1975)
This movie comes with its own pair of testicles. What a great manly movie Jaws is. Three guys, the young shark enthusiasts, the grizzled veteran from the USS Indianapolis, and the middle age sheriff trying to conquer his fears. All of them out on a boat trying to find the biggest motherfucking shark alive. Swapping stories, getting drunk and trying not to get eaten alive.
Notable Quotes: “We’re gonna need a bigger boat”
“Don’t forget your rubbers”
“20, 25,”
“Show me the way to go home….”
WHERE ARE THE REST!!
Movies 5-1 will be posted Saturday night, 3-15-08. Who will make the top 5? Who will be #1? What movie never ever gets old???
Find out this Saturday Night!!!

those are some good movies. but i've never seen #8
I love the Adam West travesty. It's too stupid not to love. ;-)
Everytime I watch Lord of the Rings, I can't help but picture Elrond sporting some sunglasses out of thin air and saying, "Welcome to Rivendel, Mr. Anderson."
Between that and the way Frodo's facial expression NEVER CHANGES throughout all 3 films, I've never been able to take the movies seriously.

"...There is a crushing guilt that comes with being a Catholic. Whether things are good or bad or you're simply... eating tacos in the park, there is always the crushing guilt."
