Does Anyone Still Watch Cartoons?

I’m sitting at my computer watching season 2 of Frisky Dingo laughing my ass off and I decide to take a break. Then it hits me: I watch a lot of cartoons. My iPod is filled with Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Venture Bros, I’ve downloaded the 2 seasons of Dilbert, and I find myself watching the cartoons I liked when I was a kid. The old Batman the animated series, Spiderman, Dexter’s Lab, and everything else on Boomerang. And I always make sure to catch the newest episode of South Park.

Does anyone else have this kind of interest? I don’t why I watch some many cartoons I just do. There is something limitless about them I just find appealing. The rules are set by the creators. If the creator wants the main character to get a hole shot in his chest with a shotgun it happens and the character can live if the creator chooses to. To me, that is just one of the many things I love about cartoons.

I hope someone knows what I’m talking about otherwise this will just be weird. But come on, the Venture Bros. is great! There are so many comic, cartoon, and pop culture references, it is ridiculous. Who knows maybe I’m just immature, I doubt it. I just wish the whole animation medium wasn’t thought of as just for children. That’s the real beef; “cartoons are for children” no they are not. Cartoons and Animation can be expressive of many ideas, it is a shame the mainstream does not even consider this.

I love cartoons! Not many of the newer ones... but ones from the 90's are the best! My favorites are totally Animaniacs and Freakazoid. ^-^ Cartoons nowadays are going downhill, but there's just something magical about the older ones that makes them great no matter how many times you rewatch them!

I watch Futurama religiously and have a secret love of Scooby Doo. What can I say? I fricking love that dog. And Courage the Cowardly Dog is pretty fricking funny too (the computer makes me laugh hysterically).

But yeah... aside from those my cartoon watching is toddler things... Noddy, Kipper, Caillou, Dragon Tales, etc. And more recently, The Backyardigans... only cartoon Alo adores so we have to watch it every night so he'll dance for us which is great. I don't see anything wrong with watching cartoons as an adult. Some of them still rock. Toddler cartoons however, while cute, are rather boring. After listening to those daily... the entire cartoon for fun thing kind of looses its appeal.

Holy crap.... that's really shitty grammar isn't it?

I usually ask mvenus or Fanaile which it is when I have to write it because I can't ever remember. Neither of them were readily available for me to bug though lol. How sad is that?

This happens to me as well. what I do sometimes is get on Word Web. you can download it free and it will give you definitions for words, so if you typed in looses then it might say word not found or similar. Or Google "Did you mean this word?"lol.

I actually get words that sound alike confused sometimes. loss, loose and loses are confusing as it is. But i am always conflicted with the word knife. It annoys me.

Loose, lose and its, it's always confuse me. I can never figure out when and if "its" should have an apstrophe (not like its as is "it is'... I can do that one, but like possessive "its"). I've gotten really bad about your and you're lately. It's not that I don't know that one... for some reason lately I've just started forgetting that it should be you're sometimes and not your. And that one is really sad because it drives me insane when other people do that.

Here's how I trained myself to remember. Say the word out loud. Lose, as in, to lose something, has a shorter sound than looses, like to have a loose tooth. The shorter one only gets one o!

That's how I did it. Of course, I'm not sure about how they sound in other dialects, so I'm hoping this'll help you out.

I can sing the theme song to Caillou from memory. It is my niece's favorite show. I've even recorded about 3 hours worth of shows (Yes, I own a VCR) so she can watch it more than 30 minutes a day if she wants. :-P

One little segment of it is usually her reward for going pee on the potty. That and flushing the toilet. She sure does love washing the water go down the hole. :-)

I care for the older ones though. Fallon I also love courage and scooby doo. I haven't watched them in a while but I love cartoons. Although this isn't a cartoon I like robot chicken. But sadly my mind has gone blank. Most the cartoons I watched don't come on anymore and are hard to find.

I think I am the weird one because I watch the old disney movies and some of the new ones as well. I don't think many 20 year olds watch disney movies but I could be wrong.

My sister and I still watch the disney movies and I know a lot of other 20 and 30 somethings that watch them as well. I don't watch the shows, but sis and I will sit down and watch one of the movies when they come on. They aren't bad.

Ok I don't feel so weird now. :) I actually watched meet the robinsons and that was a really good movie for a new one. My favorite used to be Aladdin and Lion King, Mouse detective, Fox and the Hound, Dumbo.

Aladdin was my absolute favorite movie until my sister attempted suicide. I don't watch it anymore. Kaia, Alo and I watch Lion King a lot though. And I got to introduce them to Beauty and the Beast a few weeks ago. I adore those two. We still own quite a few of the old VHS Disney movies from when we were kids... it's always fun watching them with the boys. Every time one of my favorites comes out on DVD, hubby gets it for me first thing and we watch it.... you're absolutely never too old for Disney classics!

This might sound weird, but I love Aladdin...in Spanish. We watched i in my Spanish class, and I was blown away... something about the voices... they're just SO much better, in my opinion, than the original English version. ^-^

Some of the cartoon out there now are not educational. We need what was out in the 80s which was educational even though it was put together by a toy company. It was fun. Children need learning. We need to bring back those programs again

I miss cartoons like Captain Planet (which I can still sing the theme song for), Iron Man (all i do is watch Iron Man!) Spiderman, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego, Ahh! Real Monsters, Doug, the original Rugrats, the Tick, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(sorry, but TMNT just DOESN'T work) Mighty Morphin power rangers (part cartoon-in a way) Cartoon Cartoons, Johnny Quest, Speed Racer, Johnny Bravo, Anamaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Powerpuff Girls, Batman, Aladdin on TV, the Little Mermaid on TV, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, just because i got into it before ANYONE else at my school did, Rocko's modern life....the list goes on and on...I wish Disney still made movies like they did in the 90's...ya know, hand animated and Tim Rice and Alan Menken did the music with Hans Zimmer doing some of the scores (i.e. Lion King) while also having a hit love song in there that was transposed by R&B/ pop artists and put on Top40 and soft rock stations...I'm lucky: I got to go to Disney World MGM Studios and be there while they were making Mulan before they closed the hand animation branch down in florida. I miss those days!

I loved all of the ones you named. I used to watch are you afraid of the dark? Although that is not a cartoon, and also Hey Dude, and a few other ones. Rocko's modern life was awesome so was Doug. I miss regular animation in disney movies and cartoons. :(

Sorry to disappoint you, but I am voting for Lewis Black.
