I went to see actor Anthony Rapp (of Rent, Adventures in Babysitting and Dazed and Confused) do a lecture yesterday. Rapp is openly bisexual and naturally, he's inspired many bisexuals to come out. Most of those bisexuals are somewhere between 13 and 25 but some are older. And unsuprisingly, most of them are females.
My preference could debatably be classified as bisexual so maybe I shouldn't be talking but: I'm fed up with female bisexuality. It has lost its novelty (not that it should have been novel to begin with). Looking at pop culture, it actually started to suck when that Russian singing duo, Tatu, turned out to be fake. Don't get me wrong though! I say "Come out, come out wherever you are" and be who you are but honestly, I really don't want you to come out to me specifically if you're a girl and going to say "I'm bi." It's pretty predictable. Every other one of my girl friends are bisexual or "bi-curious" or have had their lesbian moment. I honestly don't care anymore. You might as well be saying "Hey, look at me! I have 10 fingers!"
I actually wrote a paper and a half on this subject. Bisexuality is portrayed as "cool" in the media, hence girl-on-girl Real World scenes, the Britney/Madonna kiss and Tatu. This definitely opens a teenage girl's mind to all the possibilities. And while male homosexuality has possible routes in the brain and genetics, female homosexuality/bisexuality is really hard to pinpoint. Scientists and the like just think women are more open to- I don't know, love?
But anyways folks: Look around. Bisexuality is now normal.

Yeah...not to mention all the girls who wander around saying "I'm bi" or "I'm a lesbian" to get guys............
...who cares?
Girlxgirl = hot. Therefore, the more girlxgirl the better, even if they're not "really" lesbian/bisexual.
Also there's the added bonus of making it more acceptable to be bisexual or lesbian.
Cure heterosexuality!
hey Bre! you got almost 700 people to read this. tell me thats not cool.
I think the amount of girls who come out as bi must vary across the country or something, because I'm bi but I only know of one other girl who is and she lives like an hour away and I've only talked to her a few times
I live in the south and it is not even like that here. I am very straight though i am not going to run from those who are bi. Being in the middle of the Bible belt, it is not accepted and probably never will be, at least not for a long time.
