I wanted to write about schools and their money because of my school. I live in Corona California and i am a senior at one of the high schools their. My school has like no money for anything at that school. We have about 2500 students and the classrooms are full. In one of my classes we don't even have enough desks. Their are about 5 students that have to sit on the back counter. In another class (algebra 2) we don't have enough books to go around. It is so horrible. In my own opinion we could have more money. We would have more money if the Govener had not taken our soda and food machines away. I know it sounds stupid but it is true. Any school or buisness that has the machines on the property they get a surtine persent of their earnings. Well our school has alot of students as you already know and that means alot of our money is from those machines. Now that they are gone we can't get that money. It is horrible and wrong. We need that money. I want to know your opinion on this subject.
Schools and their money

Northern Virginia's taxes pay for over 60% of the entire states public costs, so basically in an area where the class sizes should be really small, and the education systems flourishing, we have overcrowding and are losing programs left and right. WE pay the taxes WE should get the programs!!! I think education funding is just handled poorly in the united states
Why should students in Southern Virginia not be given the same chances as you are? Should they recieve a lower quality of education simply because they live in a different place?
Surprizingly, yes. Our school is sold out from those soda machine before 2 period (last year, P.E.) Now, having P.E. 6th period, I'll have to get my water early in the morning, which I never come early... Our school is cheap itself and doesn't really want to buy new books but when our students start to complain, they have no rights to 'not' get us what we really need. Yes, our school is super old making the classrooms very difficult to work with but we get around it somehow... I know I wont be there when they 'do' have to start doing something about how over populated the school is. Modesto High.
It is. This is a small example but it meant alot to the tiny community I live in. INstead of getting the gymnastics team a spring board (which in two years will be required anyway of them) they got the school an electronic sign that scrolls, saying when a game is, the temp. and time. We don't need that sign, up here it's more likely to get ruined in the colder weather than anything else. Eventually they will have to buy springmats for our school, there just putting it off. We didn't need that sign.

The money from those machines isn't much.
It is some yes--but not a lot. The company that owns/fills the machines gets more than the schools do.
