THE WORDS ACCOMPANYING THE VIDEO
people say Obama's words are just words...
but...
when was the last time "words" weren't important...???...
when was the last time a great leader didn't use words to lead...??...
when was the last time a person didn't use words to describe how they felt...?...
when was the last time "words" weren't empowering...?...
and we can all recall the last time "words" were used to divide us and install fear...
Bush used words to fear us into voting for him the second time around...
terror this...
terror that...
nuclear here...
weapons of mass destruction there...
and those words effected a lot of people's choices...
"enough is enough"...
let's rebuild...
let's change ourselves...
let's allow positivity to guide us...
let's take action....
let's activate our passion...
we are Americans....
and this is the first time in forever that someone running for president represents "US"...
some say this is all excitement...
I call it "proud to be an American"...
some say this whole Obama movement is "cult like"...
well...
if it comes across cult like...
then...
the cult is called America...
the Obama movement is connecting America.
and it has made "US" realize our importance...
the youth is excited and activated...
adults are passionate and motivated...
the elderly are proud to know the country they built is in safe hands...
we are one...
for too long politics has been corrupt...
separate from the American people...
with agendas that go against what the American people "need"...
education...
health...
safety...
jobs
etc...
politicians have spoken a different language...
making it so the youth and poor people feel as if voting was only for the wealthy and old people...
making "US" feel as if "we" had no voice...
making "US" feel powerless...
making it feel like if "we" did vote it wouldn't change anything...
but wait...
that did happen...
some of us voted, and it didn't change anything...
we were in the dark...
we had no voice...
we were powerless...
because America was not a united America...
and "they" spoke a different language...
and they had an agenda different from our well being...
correct me if I'm wrong... or speak up if I'm missing something...
we want education, health, safety, and good jobs...right???...
oh yeah...
and "a healthy planet to live on"...
but here we are...
in a war... poor education... poor health programs... the dollar is down... the planet, polluted...
the rich, richer... and the poor, struggling...
with sky high gas prices to top it all off...
and now even the rich aren't really rich internationally because our dollar is has fallen so far down...
in our slumber... a very small few got really rich...
because when you're sleeping...
"it's hard to change agendas"...
we know what happened in 2000 and 2004...
but in 2008...
it's different...
we are awake...
and there is a movement...
and "it's hard to change a movement"...
last time "we" didn't have a movement...
America wasn't united...
and now "United and "Standing"...for something...
we know the power of "US"...
and we have a person who represents the "U.S."...
"US"...
"we are the ones we've been waiting for"...
I'm proud to be an American...

These words only echo what has been said about Obama over and over again, trying to drown out the monotonous attacks on his capabilites as a leader. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a great leader. But without looking up on Wikipedia, what can you tell me of his past before his Presidency? He served in the Navy for a while, and was defeated in his first executive ballot. But like Obama, he was known for this specific achievement, but his connection with the people enabled him to get reelected 4 times, enabled him to ride the war out, and enabled him to unite the nation. Never before has the country displayed as much unity, as much courage together than under FDR's wartime administration. (debatable, w/e) not since George Washington led troops during the war did one country feel united under a single President, not since Abraham Lincoln during the war has a national body been so connected together.
So, I say, let Obama finish out his campaign unbothered by the naysayers who use the SAME arguement over and over and over. Stop being paranoid, or has the Bush administration done TOO MUCH damage already.

The last will.i.am video made my sister cry.
But she voted for Clinton... oh well.
I support Obama. The way that he speaks to the youth voters is just awe inspiring. When he said that America needed to inspire us and give reason to support America, the words that he chose was just amazing.
Beautiful post!
Barack "Osama" Obama (Thank Ted Kennedy for that line) is not fit to be president. He's a smooth talker with little experience and bad ideas. He is not pro-life and simply, like most modern liberals, lacks a sense of right and wrong and is out of step with what is right for America. Bush has been a pretty rotten president in some regards and perhaps helped put this country in a bad spot, but with Obama as president we will sink to an all time low, one I feel we may not be able to recover from. I do favor him over Hillary "phony" Clinton as the lesser of two evils, but barely. The truth is that if he wasn't black he would just be a brand new inexperienced senator who's presidential campaign would have probably gone nowhere. Shame on him for using his skin color to get ahead and then having the nerve to accuse others of racism. I'm just glad that Martin Luther King Jr. isn't here to see Barack Obama and his supporters using one's skin color above the content of one's personality to decide if that person is fit to rule the country. It looks like I'll be forced to vote for McCain, a more moderate, practical, and sensible individual.
Wow, this post is so fluffy that it lacks even 1% of credible reasoning and factual support. Shame on YOU for claiming to know more about Obama as a candidate and a person than even he does. I mean, all you do is presume:
You PRESUME that Obama has little experience next to Clinton and McCain and that he has "bad ideas". Great support with that one < /sarcasm>
You PRESUME that being pro-life automatically makes you better than pro-choice candidates. Way to hide your bias there. Next time, just say "I don't like him because he is pro-choice" instead of making it seem like being pro-life is factually better. Cuzz that's what you did.
You PRESUME that under Obama, we will sink to "an all time low". Care to elaborate? Or at the moment he is elected a giant Rube-Coldberg device will catapault America into oblivion.
And you have the gall to claim Obama is using his color as the whole pretext for his successful campaign. How mixed up can you be? Seriously, I don't think I've heard anyone claim that Obama is being a hypocritical racist other than the illogical people who themselves can't stand to have an African American as President.
Since you didn't give any substantial proof as to why you would not vote for Obama besides that his campaign is using a race card and he will single handedly ruin America faster than Bush, I will have to PRESUME that you can't stand Obama as a person, and not on the basis of his candidacy. Do us a favor and don't vote at all. < /personal attack>
Not to get into an abortion debate (there are plenty of other topics for that one) Obama is what you would call 100% "pro-choice". As long as the unborn child isn't included with those who have the right to make choices about their lives, then "pro-choice" may be accurate. But considering the fact that unborn children are people as well, all Obama stands for is taking away their choice to live, hence making him neither pro-choice or pro-life. Anyway, as with most "pro-choice" people, he is merely misguided and I don't believe that he is a bad person. In fact I am betting that I would really like him as a person if I were to meet him and I will go as far as to say he would impress me as being honest, uncorrupted, and straightforward (something odd yet positive for a national politician) And, on top of that, I don't really blame him for capitalizing on the fact that his skin color is dark, after all, why not? I am not being sarcastic either. In closing, I respect Obama as an honest man with integrity and I like him as a person from what I know. Is simply don't agree with many of his viewpoints and ideas, and while I can't blame him for using his race, to some degree, to advance his presidency bid, whether purposefully or not, I can't vote for him for president, maybe as a friend though.
I'm glad you would be chums with Obama, but I am still a little iffy on your claim on abortion. I mean, your view is your view; I can't change that, nor would I want you to change your views. But what you are doing in your latest reply is passing off your OPINIONS on abortion as facts and statistics, when it hasn't been proven yet when an unborn child becomes aware and conscious enough to "choose" to live, as you may put it. Please don't let my comment come off as me being a "pro-choice anti-life" advocate, but I will rely on fact before I will accept yours or anyone else's opinion on when an egg and sperm become a living being.
What irks my patience is when you label him as being simply misguided, as "most "pro-choice" people" are according to you. I am prochoice, I don't believe a women should sacrifice her health because people like you, a person who has NO connection whatsoever to her situaion, declare the unborn baby living. That is a very selfish and provincial viewpoint.
I guess I didn't want to drag on this abortion debate any more, but I want to address the fact that your posts are giving off very opiniated tones, which aren't always good. It seems you are almost trying to tell me what I am supposed to believe, instead of giving me the right to choose myself what I think is right and wrong.
Let's just agree to disagree on the fact that I think Obama isn't playing the "race" card any more than Hillary is playing the "woman" card (god forbid) and McCain isn't playing the "War Veteran/POW" card.
Agreed?
We can agree to disagree on whether Obama is playing the race card, that's fine with me. I am a very opinionated independent person and that may come across in my posts and I think that is perfectly okay. I am not a news reporter, but rather a no-name writer on a political blog for people around my age and do not see anything wrong with having an opinionated tone because this site is all about sharing ideas and opinions. I suppose I could have a little disclaimer after every post to ensure that people know that my posts are opinionated and should not be interpreted as set facts. One thing that is a set fact is that a fetus is a living human being with a beating heart after just a few days from conception. So maybe I have "selfishly" declared unborn babies as living but that is because it is a scientific fact and if you wish to dispute that then you might as well dispute whether you are alive or not. It has not been proven as a fact that an unborn child is aware enough to "choose to live" and I highly doubt an unborn child is able to think much of anything intelligent at most stages. But we don't just assume that one does not wish to have the right to live simply because they can't yet voice that wish. If they don't wish to live then let them kill themselves when they want to but it is highly ignorant to say it's alright to kill one just because they can't speak for themselves. Anyhow, in order not to digress further on the abortion issue, I do respect your blog and the time it must have taken you to write it but I respectfully disagree about some things. Anyway, I live in Pennsylvania, and I think I will switch my registration temporarily to Democrat to vote for Obama in the primaries that are supposed to be so important here. This way I do all I can to ensure that Hilary does not get the nomination (talk about a nightmare) I will be switching to no affiliation afterward. Just wanted to let you know that I'm not all that bad!
