The Guide to a Authentic Better Future: via the Route of Morality

America's presidential campaign is all about "new leadereship," and a "better future." But, what really can make America better? What does America need to become the propersous nation it once was? First, we need to actually follow the legal norms of the Constitiution of the United States. We need to live the Declaration of Indepdance, we need to realize what our founders did, they shed their blood to grant freedom for the people to come. They hoped for a future were the rights of all were protected, and this life obviouly included the unborn person. America cannot be a prosperous nation if we continue to make immoral laws allowing abortion, homosexual unions, euthanasia, pornography, and the list goes on. We outlaw prayer from our schools, and push God away from any public event. Is that what our founders did? No! Simply reading the history of the United States, one can grasp the idea of how religious this country was. And let me tell you, Christianity is America's heritage, and I'm going to live it no matter what. Does that mean you have to? Nope! But it means I can in public or in private. Pro-choice people say pro-lifers are "intolerant" of their beliefs, but they fail to recognize that they are being intolerant of ours. Tolerance works when issues are minor and petty, but when they cross the moral and natural laws, a problem arises. I don't fail to understand why Muslims call the USA the "Great Satan." That dosen't mean I hate the US, or applaud the Muslims and Terroists, but it does mean that we have a lot of work to do. You can't ban God from the public life of America, because immorality is un-American, and a threat to national security!!! If we kill our own unborn, do you think God will bless us? If we go against His sacred word, do you think he will place His hands blessing our country? No, or No??? He'll vomit us out, or at least thats what Jesus Christ said 2,000 years ago. We have to fix our moral crisis, and find the idenity of what America is really about, freedom for all, the right to life, and this includes the unborn. People say their "Pro-Choice." But what's the "Choice"? I leave you with that one thought: What exactly is the "Choice?"

God bless you! God bless America! May America come to repentance as the people of Ninevah did in the days of Jonah the Prophet, and then, a better future will be in store for this land, this home of the brave.

Got spell-check?

They hoped for a future were the rights of all were protected, and this life obviouly included the unborn person.

Nope. There's no such thing as an unborn person. Read the Thirteenth Amendment. It starts, "All persons born..."

America cannot be a prosperous nation if we continue to make immoral laws allowing abortion, homosexual unions, euthanasia, pornography, and the list goes on.

Abortion has been legal for 35 years now, and so far we're still pretty prosperous.

We outlaw prayer from our schools, and push God away from any public event.

Prayer isn't outlawed in schools. Students are free to pray in school. Schools just can't force students to pray.

And let me tell you, Christianity is America's heritage, and I'm going to live it no matter what. Does that mean you have to? Nope!

I sure don't.

Pro-choice people say pro-lifers are "intolerant" of their beliefs, but they fail to recognize that they are being intolerant of ours.

Utter nonsense! Your religion has no bearing on my reproductive organs, nor should it. I am not Christian. I believe abortion is perfectly moral. I am free to follow my beliefs, just as you are free to follow yours in matters concerning your own body.

You can't ban God from the public life of America, because immorality is un-American, and a threat to national security!!!

LOL

If we kill our own unborn, do you think God will bless us?

What is this "we" stuff? If I get pregnant, that "unborn" is mine, not yours. I can do whatever I want with it.

And I don't believe in your religion, so I don't care if you think your god won't bless us. I'd much rather have the blessings of freedom and liberty than the empty blessings of someone else's imaginary god.

People say their "Pro-Choice." But what's the "Choice"? I leave you with that one thought: What exactly is the "Choice?"

They are: birth, parenthood, abortion, adoption, contraception and abstinence, and we are truly blessed to have them all.

First, let me apologize, I am not good at spelling, and I can't seem to find the spell-checker on this site. LOL!

Secondly, I respect your right to view your opinion as it is, and can understand your arguments. I don't agree with them at all, and from a Christian perspective (I know your not Christian), life is sacred from the moment of conception to a natural death. And Christianity, through the Sacred Scripture teaches that the life of an unborn child is not simply the mother's to take, but the life of another innocent human being. My argument with you would be pointless since you say you aren't Christian and naturally my arguments are founded on Christianity and the teachings of the Divine Saviour. If you have a chance (I know we are all so busy, lol), try to read "The Federalist Papers" by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay. They also give supports for the protection of the unborn Child.

Just briefly on your subject on prayer: you are correct in saying that the faith is not forced on anyone, but it is sad to see that discpline has gone away since prayer has been banned. Maybe this conclusion is incorrect (and I am open to correction), but it seems to me and many people (both Christian and non-Christians) that since prayer was banned, discipline has left our schools and much of our society.

God bless you, and God bless America!

Also, briefly, the 14th Ammendmant (not the 13th), also reads after "born" "or naturalized" which would include those who are not yet born!

Obviously, abortion and its controversy have roots in morality and law. Let's not confuse the two-the law and morality are two different things. The law is a lower standard, one to which most citizens have generally come to a common agreement: murder, theft, assault, etc. These have traditionally been crimes that have always been considered illegal regardless of time period, country, religion, etc. The question of what is "moral" or not is more of a matter of preference, often one based in one's religious or spiritual beliefs. To say that religion is the only way to achieve a sense of morality would be false, as would be evidenced by people who do not hold a particiular religious affiliation but still have a sense of "morals."

The beauty of the Constitution is that it is "living" and thus timeless. The writers knew that they could not possibly know every legal question that would arrive in the decades and centuries to come. They designed the Constitution to be flexible with new challenges and societal changes. Attitudes towards abortion and women's rights have changed. So has the structure of the family. This isn't to say that these things have changed for the better or worse, they've just changed nonetheless. I think it would be bold to interpret the Founders' opinions as what should be, as even they recognized that their viewpoints would be outdated in the times to come, realizing that a broader sense of a government's role in a citizen's life is more applicable.

I'm not trying to change anyone's minds about whether an abortion is "right" or "wrong". The great thing about our Constitution and our freedom of religion is that we get to choose what our own morals are, because not everyone believes the same thing. If you feel that abortions are morally wrong, don't have one. Don't fund them and work peacefully to help advocate others to CHOOSE not to have one. We, as humans, have a right to this moral choice.

Traditionally, it has been the "conservative" position to advocate the banning of abortions. But who are the ones that are having the abortions? Usually lower income, less education, young women. Perhaps these women are the ones seeking the abortions because they know that they are ill-equipped to have a child. Maybe they were raped or abused. We cannot know the reasons for every case, but we can work to make sure that the mothers are cared for in a healthy manner. That is one benefit of legal abortions.

Secondly, many in the political party that advocates the banning of abortions often only want to teach abstinence in schools, and do not support funding to lower income families. They also traditionally support the death penalty. Is there a difference in advocating for the right to life of a fetus that has not been born, and advocating the death of someone by our own hand? Granted, those who receive the death penalty have been charged and convicted of serious crimes, but does this logic truly make sense? Society taking matters into its own hands and sentencing to death a fellow human being seems contradictory to me.

Our nation was founded on a fear of a over-powering government that takes away our rights, rights every human being has. I think that blurring the line between morality, religion, and the law is a dangerous endeavor.

Its insanity... we all know that Progressives are right there Buddy Buddy with Seculars who are clearly all atheists ;) ;)

but only moral societies prosper, this is a lesson of history. Morality brings prosperity to any culture. One can argue to be moral is to be progressive!

Gay marriage will make gays more prosperous, which effects our economy. The prosperity of our nation probably has a little more to do with tax law and economics than with morality.

I would love to see this topic tackled again, but with a few FACTS thrown into the mix, instead of a whole bunch of opinionated bigotry.
