Insignificance

In the wide universe, there is a little speck. Inside that little speck exists a person. That person provides definition to his surrounding speck, magnifying or diminishing it, as per their personality. Surrounding his speck are numerous other specks--great in number, but still specks.

The person existing within the speck joins other specks during his lifespan. The other specks provide him with a more full definition of himself and his character. He takes comfort in the surrounding specks. Some specks are closer than others, but that is to be expected. After all, there is limited room surrounding the immediate vicinity of his speck.

Sometimes one of the close specks tears itself away from his speck--for some reason or another, sometimes no reason at all. Since that now-lost speck provided some definition of himself, his speck has lost a little bit of itself. That void is quickly or slowly filled by another speck, but it can't replace that part of the speck that is now missing.

But it's ok. After all, it's just a speck. Its insignificance is hardly worth discussing. Its specialty is no different from the other specks.

But...at the same time...it's the most significant thing in the world. In the universe.
