Ok so if you read part one of my story than you know that I am pro gay marriage and well its there right to partake in such a joyous event, but at the end I added that adoption was a different story. And it is!! So I don’t wana sound all what ever but there should be various… guidelines set on adoption. Yes, they can care for themselves but not all of them have the ability to care for others, particularly younger people. Like ok if they want to adopt there should be an…. Environment check, you know like are they mentally stable to care for kids, or is there house ‘kid friendly’ like are chemicals properly cared for, or like they don’t leave dangerous objects lying around. Things like that. For all I care if they go through something like that than social services job would be a lot easier, oooo or even have an annual, random check on the child. They are our future and a child is better off an orphan than being…..brought up in a unhealthy environment!! But that’s just me and that’s just one side of the whole situation. I know there are many different views on the situation but, well everyone has that right to boo or woo me! (I prefer the woo if you catch my drift!!) Well that ends the whole “Steers VS Queers” so im like a belly button!

P.S. I would really like to here your view on it so woo me or boo me!!

Put all of those checks on couples who adopt regardless of orientation, but you'd better have a plan to pay for it.

Do you think that same-sex couples are less capable of raising children? If so, I will repeat the request I made yesterday: produce a study to back your assertion up.

First off, you need to go back to your Language Arts and Spelling lessons and review them, then edit your page so it has proper grammar and spelling.

Second, kids are not just handed out like candy or bought like dogs in the window! There is a lot to adopting children. I know because I am in the process of adopting my step daughter and my wife had a baby for another family that has to adopt that child. I have been through the gamut of legal issues involved with it. There is at least one, if not two or more, visits by either Social Services or the Probation Department. They don't just say "Here's your kid, good luck and please don't kill him." There is a long drawn out process involved for the safety of the child and the adopting family.

so for one i really hate when people criticize others for their spelling and grammar. thats not the point of the blog and the only point of saying things like that is to hurt the blogger...so can we stop being jerks....

but i do disagree. a straight couple could have just as many issues with an unhealthy environment as a gay couple and putting just the gay couple through an "examination" is for one discrimination. i think having every couple..or person who wants to adopt going through something like that is a good idea not just gay/lesbian.

My veiw is that your fears seem honestly meant, but are otherwise completely without merit. I would suggest that you educate yourself about research surrounding the parenting skills of same-sex couples, and the effects that gay and lesbian parents have demonstrated to have on the children in their care. A good place to start is the American Psychological Association's research summary: Lesbian & Gay Parenting.

"In summary, there is no evidence to suggest that lesbian women or gay men are unfit to be parents or that psychosocial development among children of lesbian women or gay men is compromised relative to that among offspring of heterosexual parents. Not a single study has found children of lesbian or gay parents to be disadvantaged in any significant respect relative to children of heterosexual parents. Indeed, the evidence to date suggests that home environments provided by lesbian and gay parents are as likely as those provided by heterosexual parents to support and enable children's psychosocial growth." ~ Charlotte J. Patterson, PhD

By "they" are you talking about gay and lesbian adoptive parents? Or all adoptive parents?

You should do some research on pretty much everything before you blog. And you should use editing resources once you have dumped your opinion on the page. You have some pretty persistent spelling, grammar, and logic issues.

I thought they did do background checks and go to the home of ALL adoptive parents. Otherwise they could be giving a child to some dangerous people. Am I wrong? Do they not check the homes and backgrounds of the prospective parents?
