College Sigh Sigh!!!

Today my cap advisor came to my class to give a presentation about graduation requirements, SAT/ACT exams, college applitcations, and all that good stuff. I didn't think I would feel so pressured afterwards... Like a girl in my class said, we aren't use to having to compete against students from all over the nation! When we moved on from elementary to middle school or from middle school to high school we didn't need to do anything! All of a sudden we are on our last year of high school and its all about making that little step that will decide your future. The new beginning of your real life that will come slamming throw your door. If not choose college than you have to work hard to make a living. Either that or your one of the lucky ones like Bill Gates and now he's a billionaire! Or take Alex Rodriguez who choose to pursue his career in baseball and didn't go to college after high school. But we all know that we are more likely to get well paid jobs if we get an education. Which is why we are told nonstop to go to college.

As a senior this year, I don't know how everyone else is really coping. I live in Florida and the deadline for the University of Florida (one of my top choices) is on November 1st, which is pretty darn early! As far as I know all the top notch universities up north, Harvard, Dartmouth, UPenn, etc. haven't even started early decision! My main concerns are my SATs score and that the college administration might think I'm not involved in the community or in school. I do have the GPA but what the adults keep preaching is that it doesn't matter! What matters most is your character shown through your essay, community service activities, and school involvement. So folks those essays do matter! Early decision will also give you a higher advantage of getting accepted.

Today I was trying to work on my application for UF and I couldn't help but feel that tension that I might do something wrong that could turn down my application. I guess we should all try to be more positive about it. Even though those bloody SAT scores wanted by universities are getting ever so higher by the year! Not to mention tuition costs! It will catch up to us sooner or later! I just can't help but sigh at the thought of how busy I'm going to be with college this year. A successful future is all I want and I'm sure its no different with all of you folks out there. Take care of yourselves!

Blessed Be! :)

I'm a senior this year also. Last year i thought i had everything planned out. I knew where i wanted to go to college and what i wanted to do and eveyrthing in between. I've just recently hit a slight "bump" in my mapped out plan. Now everything is off and i have alot of decisions to make in a very short ammount of time. This will definately be the most stressful year of our highschool life(as anticipated).

Good luck with everything! Try not to stress out too much (i know..so much easier said than done)!

Yeah, I totally get it. I've been working on applications and essays and stuff like that. I'm planning on mailing a couple applications off by next week sometime to meet the early decision deadline. I just want to get it all done so I can relax a little. This senior year stuff is TOUGH.
