America's Inflated Economy

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •

Hi, its me again. Ok, this weeks topic is America's average prices on products that you may find in your local grocery store. I know I'm fairly accurate on these examples because I work in a store myself. The other day I went into the breakroom and wanted to buy Pepsi so I got my fifty cents out and just happened to look up at the machine only to notice that the price had risen to sixty cents. I was amazed!! This had probably happened when I was off. This just shows how quickly our markets can change prices on certain goods. I have heard that sodas and some groceries (i.e, bread, milk) were going to be rising because of the companies having to cover higher costs on their end of the supply chain. To explain, the companies need a way to pay for the cost of production that comes into play when producing these goods so they look to the consumer for income. Some of the companies costs can include, gas for delivery trucks, retail workers, and all the way down to the pens and pencils on the desks of the higher up employees. Gas is another thing that is starting to go up. This is based on what you pay at the pump, last time I remember gas was around $2.46 a gallon now its like $3.14 a gallon. Price per barrel for fuel costs around $100. I think this is enough evidence to show that the cost of living is getting more expensive. Now instead of people driving Cadillacs they will be driving more economic cars like Ford or the upcoming Tata Nano. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.

What does a Bowling Obama have to do with inflation?

I would have liked to see this topic developed a little more. It was a good topic to pick and you have the first-hand experience, but it feels like there should have been more to it.

I dunno. Just my thought.

I don't know why. I just thought I would throw that out there. I happen to catch that on CNN about an hour ago. I will develop my blog. New post will probably come out tomorrow.

Thanks for taking my comment seriously. Even though it was just a suggestion, I'm glad to see you supported your topic with more evidence.

And the Bowling Obama thing...maybe I'm just ignorant, cuz I hardly watch the news. Had I seen this myself, I probably would've seen whatever connection you were trying to make.

Keep working on blogging and don't mind my comments too much. I think I drive people a little crazy with my suggestions Oh please Oh please Oh please...

The price of gas (or oil) is going up because of an increase in demand in international markets, particularly and increase from China.

Domestically prices are increasing because of the increased cost of inputs, partially due to oil prices. However, I've got to say that soda prices from a vending machine are generally pretty stable. My earliest memory is 50c per can, 65c is an increase that has occurred in the last few years. Due to this i would argue that it is not a reflection of an increase in oil prices, merely the vending machines finally catching up to years of routine inflation. (Vending machine prices have to be convenient, like 50c or a dollar. The companies are losing out with 65c)

If you take a look at the bottles they are usually still $1, even though IN the grocery store it costs 1.19+ for a 20oz bottle of soda.

Also, a certain amount of inflation is healthy in the economy. The fed tries to keep inflation at around 1% per year.

Yes, that is true because if we do that it results in revenue for our local governments. In return for us we may have better roads, highways, emergency services you know the works.

Ummm... Inflation does not result in more revenue for the local government.
