Faith: Belief that is not based on proof.

Could you pass a test of faith if God were to issue it? If you've ever given up praying for something because you felt you were unworthy, or that God was too busy or that maybe it wasn't/isn't the right time, then you've already failed. Here is a true story of a woman who proved her faith to be strong. Perhaps you could learn from her.

Matthew 15:22-28

22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

In this passage, Jesus tests the faith of a Caananite woman. In the Bible Canaanites were a sinful people, so sinful even that the godly were instructed not to marry among them (Genisis 28:1, 6). Anyway, this Canaanite woman is crying out to Jesus to help her daughter. Jesus tests her by ignoring her cry at first, even telling the disciples that He is sent only to the "lost sheep of Israel". And when the woman worships him, and asks for Him to help her, he responds saying that the children's bread (miracles, in this instance) aren't to be cast to the dogs (given to the unworthy/ungodly). The woman proves her faith by saying that even the dogs eat of the crumbs that fall from their master's table (even the ungodly receive the scraps overlooked by the worthy).

The woman was persistant and had much faith. She kept asking even though Jesus plainly told her she was unworthy of a miracle. How about you? Would you exercise faith if God were to test it? Or would you give up your faith in God? I'll be praying that you pass the test!!!

God has really been testing my faith through some events lately. I keep praying and praying and sometimes I don't even want to pray anymore, but I keep praying. Thanks for posting this, I needed it.

It depends what youre praying for.
if its not right for you, obviously God will not grant your prayer.
i think sometimes we see God as someone who will grant our prayers as long as we are religious.

God will not always give us what we want or what we are asking for. But He will always answer us... eventually. Whether He gives us a clear yes or no, He will give an answer. He opens and shuts doors for us, steering us in the way He wills us to go, and we must be alert to the subtle clues He leaves for us.

The bible isn't evidence for god or anything god does. It is only true if god exists so it cannot be used to uphold the existence of god.
