Give Bush a Break!

Many of Saddam's top men were under the impression that they were to use Iraq's large stockpile of chemical weapons against American soldiers. Now, we know they don't exist, or no longer exist, but one must consider- if Saddams own generals thought that Iraq had WMD, then doesn't it seem inevitable that the CIA would also find that they had WMD and that it was acceptable to go on that information.

Some people may believe that this war is none of our business. Saddam Hussein is responsible for millions of often inhumane murders of his own people, including many, many Kurds. So, my question to you is, does that mean that the holocaust was also none of our business? How does that differ from the millions murdered by Mr. Hussein?

Others believe that this war started out to find Bin Laden. I'm wondering if they realize that Bill Clinton knew the exact location of Osama Bin Laden at one point during his presidency and chose to let him off, seeing that he wasn't causing much problem at the time, so really the whole 'Where is Bin Laden' mess is Clinton's fault. In addition, some mention that they feel like this is a continuation of the first gulf war. And maybe it is, but Bush is not the only President to narrow in on Iraq. Clinton ordered bombings on the country during his presidency as well.

A lot of anti-bushers seem to think that we need to pull out of Iraq ASAP. I hate to tell you, but it's just not possible. Even if Iraq wasn't a breeding ground for terrorists before, pulling out when there is no government in place would make it one, because anytime there are massive numbers of people leaderless it gives well established terrorist groups an opportunity to take control of the masses and mold their minds.

So I propose we give Bush a break and realize that there are reasons for the United States to be in Iraq.

I totally agree. It's good to see that someone else shares my thoughts on this subject.

I agree, no one is perfect, we just need to stop cutting him down all the time. It's not like bush-bashing does anyone any good...

I get a kick about how people say we should stop genocide in Darfur, but we shouldn't have stopped the human rights violations in Iraq by Saddam Hussein (like the rape rooms, among other things)...

There were 21 countries with forces either in the invasion coalition or there fighting after the invasion. I'm sure their leaders believed that a good reason existed before putting their soldiers in harms way.

I do feel that the occupation has been mishandled and that the Iraqi people are too far gone to ever coexist peacefully. The dream of having a friendly, democratic, allied country in the middle-east is just that... a dream.
