Can horses swim?

I spend 20 hours a week playing a sport most people have never even heard off.  I have had several people come up to me and ask me how the horses swim in the water.  So I have decided to try to educate people.

Water polo is a game with seven players on each side (one goalie and six feild players)  there are two goals, one on each end (the goals look very much like small soccer goals that float on the water) and it is in a pool where you cannot touch the bottom.  You can only touch the ball with one hand at a time and you have to tread water for the whole game.  In an adverage game water polo players swim 2 to 3 miles.

One of the most unique things about water polo is how the refs affect the game.  In a normal game there are probably 100 fouls.  Fouls are very nomal and just make it so the defender has to back off of the offensive player and let him have a free pass for 3 seconds.  The there are ejections, game majors, and burtalities.   Ejections are for over aggresive fouls and when you get an ejection your team is down a man for 20 seconds.  Each player can only get 3 ejections before he is game majored which meant that he can no longer play in the game.  Burtalities are for punching someone in the face above the water or obviously hurting someone with only the intention of injuring them.

This will probably not give you a very good idea of what water polo is but at least you will now know something.  Perhaps this will spark your interest enough to go watch a game and see what it is really like.  It really is a game that is completly different than all other games.
