Old vs. New

Originally, I came to ProgressiveU for the contest. I started blogging at ProgressiveU a couple months before the competition had begun. I knew I would not win, as I am a new blogger, but I stayed because I love to hear people’s points of view on a subject, and at ProgressiveU, I had finally found intelligent discussions and debates! Everyday I checked back to see the responses to yesterdays blogs and when a new blog came up I loved to read it. I dreamed of writing as well as these “professional” bloggers. I am a good writer but when it comes to expressing my own feelings on paper, or computer, it takes a while to say it right and it doesn’t necessarily come out right at all. These blogs had obviously been thought about; everything flowed, the grammar was almost perfect, and each idea was different from what I had heard before. I came to love this site, but one day I logged on and it was like another world; the competition had begun. You read one blog and 10 more popped up, but each was like a comment for the last, one person would write about something like how abortion shouldn’t be legal and right after it are 5 blogs about you got it abortion. Few of the responses were thought out and the same thing was said twenty times. After a week of this madness, I took a ProgressiveU break. For an entire month, I did not even think about ProgressiveU. The competition had ruined the perfect site for intelligent debates. People became more concerned about posting x amount of blogs per day instead of focusing on the quality of their blogs. It was terribly disappointing. It is weird to say, but I cannot wait for the competition to end so I can once again read blogs that have a purpose and have been thought about. I hope someday this competition actually brings more thought about debates than it ruins.

It's true but it is designed to be fair and reward those who accumulate the biggest following and support. Trust me read points are much more important than how many blogs you write. But either way, see ya in the summer, where the true bloggers live!!!
