Bolemia

Today, I went into the restroom with my friend, Ashley, during lunch, and a while after I'd stepped into the stall to take care of my business, I heard another girl, who at the time I'd assumed was Ashley, go into the stall to the right of mine, and make fairly odd noises. I didn't know what to think, but I was fairly suprised when I saw Ashely standing outside of the stalls by the sinks. She wasn't the one making weird noises, but it was in fact, another girl. Suprised by the unusual noises, I walked quite fast out of the restroom to find another friend of ours, Dylan, standing out of the girl's restroom, waiting for us. I looked at Ashley and said, "What was going on in there?", and Ashley said, "Do you mean the girl in the restroom?", and I'd said yes. She then told me that the girl in the stall was throwing up, and though I didn't know who this female was, it disturbed me for the rest of the day. We were both pretty sure that she'd made herself regurgitate. I thought that was the weirdest thing because I've never had a close friend, nor any friend for that matter attempt to do such a thing to his/herself. The only time I'd ever been around any type of eating disorder was when we were studying them in my freshman health class. I didn't know what to do or think. I didn't know the girl, and what could I do? I can only hope that she gets well, and that other girls know that if they're faced with such problems, that they should most definately get professional help, or simply talk to someone about their problems and issues (including some friend, a teacher, a counselor, a family member, a sibling, a coach, someone you know in church, etc.). To any girls out there reading this, who knows of someone or thinks that they may have an eating disorder, do all that you can to support your friend. It hurts me to know that someone would feel the need to disrespect/hurt their own body like that. Remember: your body's a temple.

It is Bulimia, just so you know.
And she could've been sick, don't be too quick to judge.

Après la pluie le beau temps.

Check out my latest blog! :]

You can't be sure, she might have just been sick. But in any case if it was Bulimia I wish her well.

Try going in the bathroom again after lunch, and if it happens again, run and get the nurse. Those people need help, though they may not realize it. I'm not saying they're psychotic, but they do have a problem that usually can't be solved on its own.

As someone who was once bulimic, you should keep an eye on this girl. If it seems that she is in the bathroom everyday at around the same time, then tell someone. A teacher, a nurse, anyone! Bulimics actually have a schedule to keep within their mind as to when are the best times to go into a bathroom and regurgitate their food. Personally, I always went to the bathroom that had the least traffic and went when everyone else would be running to classes. Just keep an eye on her, and if it seems that this is a recurring thing, tell someone. Trust me. She'll thank you for it.
