Addictions

I was just thinking about the people in my life and i was thinking about how many people have addictions and personal struggles.  I believe that everyone goes through some type of struggle. But at the same time people are so insensitive to others.  In our society it's all about me me me.  No one really cares about others.  Our world preaches money power and selfishness.  It's so easy to judge someone for something that they have done.  it is so easy!  It's so easy to talk bad about someone for being a drug addict. Or make fun of someone for being a cutter.  But as a society, we have to question why people are the way they are.  A certain sociologist said that the way people are shows how the society is functioning.  All these bad things that are happening to people shows how dysfunctional our society is.  People don't cut themselves for no reason and people don't take drugs for no reason.  i don't care what any one says.  Who am I to sit here on a high horse and look down my nose at someone for anything.  I've been through my own share or problems and mistakes.  I try to remember and understand that they way I interact with people can either hurt or harm them.  Society as a whole doesn't open their arms to crack addicts.  I don't understand why.  It's a sickness!  It's not anything to laugh about.  I believe in God and I know that Jesus would have opened his arms to the dirtiest crack addict in a heartbeat.  So my question is, why don't we like people who are going through addictions and personal struggles?  Does anyone know?

I think we don't like them because we fear them. We are afraid of becoming weak and addicted, and so we look down on those who are, because it is easier to pretend to be better than them than it is to realize that we're all pretty close to being who they are.

(if you can't see the fnords they won't eat you)

We don't like to see our own reflection staring back at us. They are what we do not want to become but already are. Shallow, self centered, alone.

I would like to think everyone is addicted to something. Me personally, ICE CREAM and SWEETS!!! It might not be something that is really bad for me, but i am addicted to it! It is something that if i stopped eating, i would be more fit, but hey... what can i say? I just cant stop!
Take Care,
Nikki

Well Khara the way we interact with people can either hurt them or help them. People don’t like people with addictions because they see them as people who are hurting themselves and not helping themselves. They are people that have a destructive character. No one in their right mind is going to open his or her arms to a crack addict we avoid them seeking safety. They are only hurting themselves and the people around them. Like I said they have a destructive character due to their addiction. They are blinded by their addictions they are walking in spiritual darkness. They can only be helped when they themselves seek it and find fellowship with those who have overcome their addictions and now walk in the light.
