So people go online and they create a facebook or a myspace or whatever seems to be popular at the moment to tell people about them selves and what they enjoy. Out of all of those people how many actually use all of their own stuff to explain themselves or let others get to know them? Everyone that creates pages normally puts pictures some that they took but then some that others took but they liked, they always have music from their favorite artists and what not and then a lot of people put quotes that were written by someone else that they just happen to base their whole life off of. So how can you really be an individual if everyone in an everyday situation is always using someone elses stuff. Can you do that and still be an indvidual? If you wanted to be unique wouldnt you have to write your own music, come up with all of your own sayings and layouts and pictures and all that fun stuff. Then how many people when they start one of these things gets completly addicted to it? I know that i am but that is just the way that i am. What is it about these things that everyone gets so caught up on? Is it easier to make friends online and talk to them rather than to call them on a phone or texting or some other way? Something about blogging and setting up your own site that you are so proud about but yet i dont really think that it does anything but to keep you busy when you are completly bored.

AND there's the politics of myspace. Police departments constantly monitor it, so do random people who send you eerie messages and of course, it's owned by Rupert Murdoch (what isn't?). I deleted mine after all that, it was too much.

facebook et al. are a way to be an individual, but that's not the primary purpose--it's also a way to be part of a community. you talk with ppl, comment on photos, compare personality quiz results, and find people like you because of what you post. idk, i post stuff that is characteristic to me, like my art, but i'm online cuz of my friends (esp. friends overseas). ur so right... idk how that can that be so addicting! :-)
Many people cannot admit that they are addicted to things such as MySpace, Facebook, and texting. These are the new popular things in society and we need to honor them with respect. We still need to respect the old inventions and tecnology too. We cannot just rely and be addicted to whats new all the time. Nice blog.
