Okay, it's been a long time since I've ranted...so I think I'm about due for a good one.
According to the Associated Press, twelve-year-old Steven Domalewski was hurt seriously after another boy - using a 31-inch, 19-ounce Louisville Slugger TPX Platinum bat - hit a line drive. The ball struck him in the chest with such force that it caused his heart to stop beating - leaving him brain-damaged.
That is tragic - absolutely. I can't imagine the amount of pressure that would have had to have been emitted to cause it - which equals a tremendous amount of pain that this poor boy must have endured, and probably still is enduring.
But...what does the family do?
...filed a lawsuit Monday morning against the manufacturer of the bat, the store that sold it, and against Little League Baseball for giving the bat its seal of approval...
The suit also names Little League Baseball and the Sports Authority, which sold the bat. It claims the defendants knew, or should have known, that the bat was dangerous for children to use, according to the family's attorney, Ernest Fronzuto.
Really? Are you serious? Do these people take advice from the same moron that advised hot-coffee lady to sue McDonald's for putting hot coffee in her lap while driving?
What the hell is wrong with people!? I'm surprised they didn't just go ahead and start naming off other people to sue while they're at it. Why not the manufacturer's of the ball - since the ball is what actually struck Steven. Or how about the coach - who obviously made Steven pitch in the first place. Or even the fans of Little League Baseball nation-wide - since their loyalty to the program is what probably got their son involved in the first place.
Bah - but now I'm probably just giving these people ideas.
But seriously, these types of people make me want to shake them until they bite their tongue and just ask "what the fuck is your problem!" in a high pitch that only dogs could hear. Then slap them for not answering me.
Everyone knows that sports can be dangerous. Any sport holds its own form of danger - that's why there's things called "practice" and "coaches" and "training" - to help teach these people how to play safely and how to avoid hazards. If you don't want your child to get hurt while playing a sport...then the only way to guarantee it is to not allow your child to play sports! I thought that was common sense?
So now, in the most popular "Get Rich Scheme" in America, this family is suing everyone because of what can only be called an accident...and dooming poor Steven to forever be known as "the Child of the Bat-Suers"...
Simply amazing.

This is sooo stupid. I hate that this happens. Then when people like me want to sue a hospital for killing a family member it is impossible. Yet someone can sue because of a bat? Yes that is america for you. Maybe they should sue the other kids for being there to witness the murder that occurred from the bat? Ugh idiots. I hate crap like this it pisses me off. Go ahead and rant :) I like them sometimes if they have a point to them.

Love comments? I do too!
Seems like an ample time to quote The Big Lebowski. "This is a bummer man... that's a bummer."

I think this might top the Hamster Lady...
Freak accidents like these are horrible, and tragic but, they aren't anyone's fault. There has to be a more constructive way to handle your grief besides trying to make a profit off of your loved one's memory when no one was at fault.
everytime I think I've lost all faith in humanity, I find just a little bit more left to lose...

If parents don't want their kid to get injured, they should just lock them up in their room made of foam and padding. It's ridiculous to take out one's anger at the world in the courtroom, punishing the innocent just because life sucks sometimes. Well, I'd say in most of these cases it's anger, other cases are driven by sheer greediness.
Accidents happen - no court case will be able to change the past. What a complete waste of time and money. Now, for fear of lawsuits, Little League may cease to exist and soon kids will no have outlet for their energy except for breaking laws and causing trouble.
For a moment there, I had almost forgotten the easy-money hungry society that I've grown up in. I almost had hope for humanity to become rational.

This is crazy! WHy the bat people? It was clearly the ball that did it. To that fact the parents should have known and can be charged with child abuse/neglect.
All joking aside, I really can not believe the things people will do.
I think I will go see if I can find the out come to this idiocracy.

A nation of well informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins. ~Benjamin Franklin
There is actually a movie, titled "Idiocracy," that explores the possible outcome of human stupidity over time...
It's actually a pretty good movie. If you like funny movies. ;-)
