If you havnt read my speech "McNickled and McDimed," then you may want to after this message. McDonalds cant handle the minimum wage anymore. They will be setting up call centers for their drive throughs. Thats right. McDonalds has found a way to outsouce minimum wage jobs. Now at the moment, the multi million dollar company claims that it will make the centers in North Dekota or elsewhere (ie to pay its employees federal minimum wage of 5.15. After all, some states minimum wage is as high as 7.35 an hour) But that wont be the end of it. If you haved called dell tech support recently, then you have had the pleasure of supporting the local Indian economy. Why pay an American 15 dollars an hour for call service when you can pay and indian that amount in a week, or even a month. If you have called Kodak, then you have spoken to a Philipino. Well, your fries, or at this point, they may change the name to flies because people that just learned English may have trouble saying fries, will be noted down by your local Indian from telecommunications in India.
Why else is this a problem? Well besides the fact that we will lose jobs that help kids pay for college (well claim do) the export of telecommunication jobs may lead to an increase of discrimination amoungst American Indians or Philipinos trying to get a telecommunication job here in the States. After all, who is going to want to hire someone with a thick accent that is going to cause people to call up and complain about outsourcing jobs? The fact is, we need to stop this. Call your local legislature and tell him or her that we need to stop the outsourcing of telecommunications. Oh, if your wondering. The government agent that you call may also be an Indian telemarketer. 40 states currently outsource there food stamps service helpers to India after all.
I used to work for McDonald's and soon I'm getting a management position there. The company provides a lot of opportunities for everyone from young employees, old ones, or minorities. I think they are a great company to work for and it's too bad you feel this way.

How is minimum wage too high? McDonalds gets more and more McDiculous every day. Haven't the McDonalds people made enough money making most of America fat? Wait that must be it! They want to make us skinnier because if we make less we can't afford McDonalds. Wow, giving back to the community that made them disgustingly rich. How kind.
UGH. I hate when people blame their getting fat on fast food. It's called WORK OUT AND PAY ATTENTION.
I personally do not like McD's anymore. I hate there burgers and the service is horrible.
As far as outsourcing, I hate it with a passion. If I pay $15 an hour for tech support I want to understand the person the first time not pay for him/her to repeat it until I can understand them.
As for McDonald's they are not the company they used to be and are looking for anyway they can to make money and not take care of their local communities any more. Please consider this the next time you want a burger.
I understand what you're saying because one time, my mother called Comcast to report that our Cable TV was out because of the weather and she got someone from India who didn't understand what the problem was.
Thats why you should have Cablevision, they have call centers in the tri-state area. Hopefully you'll get me when you call :)
I do agree with you, outsourcing is a huge trend coorporate america is doing with call centers, I mean, why wouldn't they? If you were a business owner, wouldn't YOU want to save money by cutting employment costs? Besides, some countries actually pay you for bringing promising employment oppourtunities, and, most times, these countries do not have the option for health care coverage supplied by their employer, so, you have ppl flocking to these jobs. When you really think of it, it costs the average corp. little to nothing. If you really have a problem with it, contact your local congressman to do something about it. All this I am saying, is coming from an ex-employee of the company that supplies these svc for MCD Corp, SEI, and it is located in Grand Forks/Fargo North Dakota, but they do not pay minnimum wage, they pay 7.50/hr. I did not work in this dept, I worked in the dept who fixed their computers at MCD stores, and i'm going to tell you something, I can gaurentee you, if you get an order taker from a call center, you have a better chance of not getting your food spit in for having an attitude with the drive thru person. lol Pretty soon, alot of the things in MCD will be automated, I mean, they all ready have the cash register where you can take your own order in some states, and cashless machines to take payment CC/DC/GC, dont be surprised if the next time you get an order wrong, you see a sign that says, sorry, we are experiencing technical difficulties, or the MCD will be closed down ll together, I belive that, robots will be the only outsourcing that we should fear, they cost next to nothing to employ, and can be reprogrammed and never forget, so, the next time you are complaining of companies outsourcing, (plz dont mind the primitive saying but) Shit, or get off the pot.
