My Vision of Utopia

Bridge's picture

Imagine, if you wish, an Earth that is perfect. A pure utopia realized on our frail and troublesome planet.

There would be no more wars. Everyone can understand others and therefore there are no conflicts between peoples of different races, religions, or orientation. Children grow up peacefully in neighborhoods where their parents don't have to worry about muggers or child abductors.

Marriages never end. Husbands and wives can work through any problems that come their way, though they won't have to because there ARE no problems to come their way. Both Mom and Pop make a decent enough living to provide a comfortable household for the children but they don't make too much money. There are no rich or poor. Everyone is equal and everyone is happy, because all is right in the world.

.....Boy would that suck. It's getting a little too much like Stepford, huh? Perfection everywhere can only lead to negative outcomes. These perfect people in this perfect world resemble robots. They are all alike. They have nothing to tell them apart.

I've come to the part where I'm supposed to explain the point in all this.

I've come to the conclusion that our world needs a little chaos, a little hate, and plenty of imperfections. Without the "bad guys" like robbers and murderers, how are good people defined? Without the students who don't try hard, where are the hard workers? If everyone is the same, and there are no problems, then there can be no exceptional people. There can be no real learning from mistakes.

There can be no progress.

People would never appreciate the good in their lives without having something to look down upon.

That is a simple fact.

Good blog.

We could do without so much violence in the world. People can learn from simple mistakes. The mistakes don't have to be overbearing and drastic.

It's a utopian world only on the outside--people still have their struggles with their passion and their vision.

In a real utopia, every person would live to their passions. Trust me, life doesn't have to be about the black and white world of work and rest, love and hate--every person has a passion of their own, and in a utopian world, they'd be working for those in personal perfection.

Now, hell comes up before utopia, however...

I was about to comment about how your Utopia sucks, and then I got to the second half and realized we share the exact same viewpoint. A more realistic Utopia is not perfect; it's debatable if perfection even really exists. There must be problems, and conflict, and bad people...

We just could do without a lot of the junk going on in the world right now.

Also I think that if everybody didn't speed while driving, we wouldn't have to follow traffic laws (or something like it).
